Ive just caught up with the Walking Dead comics. Ive never read comics in my life, other than the DC Thomson comics as a kid. What a brilliant comic! I was already looking fwd to the AMC TV series cos Im a big ombie fan. Id also read a few zombie novels, but never a comic. But I have to admit Im hooked. teh story is BRILLIANT! Loving the current stroy arc about the perfect community! Cant wait to see how it will dvelop, especially after everything that happened at the end of #75!

Anyone else reading the comic books wanting to discuss?

Don't usually go for stuff so completely devoid of humour, but "The Walking Dead" is rivetting stuff.

Issue 77 is out already - the series is gearing up for another change (of scene and tempo) over the next few issues.

And we only have a little over a month to go for the premiere of the TV adapation

Have read the first 4 volumes, and have also got 5 - 12 as well , as was stated earlier, I agree earlier it "is rivetting stuff".

Now fully up to date, wow how dark do these comics go, I really can't see the TV Series coming anywhere close to covering a lot of the events from the comics? Shame really as the storylines are riveting, tbh I would love for the series to follow them closely but already it seems to be heading off in it's own direction?

I've just started reading it. I'm near the end of volume 1.

Bit strange reading the original comics in parallel with watching the TV series. Lots of similarities, obviously, but already some differences.

This has the first 8 volumes (& each volume has 6 issues, so it's the first 48 issues):

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Walking-Dea...0475809&sr=1-2

Slightly cheaper than buying each volume separately.

You could really tell that Robert wrote this week's episode, it was a lot more comic book in style and story and you could see he was pushing a few of the comic details through, things like Andrea's calendar keeping, the Jim storyline, Amy's death etc

Just read the tradeback volume 13 (up to issue 78) something tells me things are not going to end well pretty soon for Rick and the gang. It was a nice run of issues that lacked zombies but i think they are coming back big time.

I've had my eye on this for a while & the amazon price is really good.I was in Forbidden Planet & Waterstones last weekend & they were wanting £45 for the book.I'll probably pick this up from amazon after the new year.

I got the 8 volume compendium a while back - totally worth the money (it was a tenner more on Amazon when I got it). I'll be getting books 9-11 for Christmas, and I've already ordered 12 & 13. I'll just keep up on the single issues after that, I think..

Just read the first 48 issues and have to say I preferred the TV series, the characters were much more 3 dimensional. I certainly hope that if "The Governor" makes it into the TV show he's a lot less cartoonish.

Every Alan Moore comic I've read has been much better that the resulting movie but this wasn't the case here.

The Walking Dead isn't an Alan Moore comic...

EDIT. Sorry, On second thought, I realise you were just using AM comics vs adaptations as an example.

By far the cheapest way to read it is the compendium edition
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Walking-Dead...9703824&sr=8-2

it contains issues 1-48 (so over half the entire run to-date)

it is also available in several other smaller collected editions.

Have read all graphic novels to date, next one according to Amazon due out December.

Fantastic read, great TV show too, loving how it the scripts been altered so those of us who know what's coming don't know if it will come e.g.

Spoiler

I started to watch the 2nd season, but didn't finish the 1st, I somehow read the comics... The other day I was waching Zombie Apocalypse, which turned out to be a 8/10 tv movie (scyfy channel) but somehow I think the Walking dead are way better than the movie.

Reading the comic has spoiled the series to a degree for me, the last two surprise endings I already knew what was coming.
