Oh that idea I do like very very much, The more one thinks of it the greater sense it makes.

In the same way as John Simm was very much a distorted mirror image of Tennant then I can definitely see how Cumberbatch would be a brilliant Master match for Matts doctor.

Cumberbatch would make a great Master, or indeed a great Doctor! But as the Doc's shoes are now comfortably worn by Matt Smith, I think Ben should settle for Master

I agree with capt.shoegazer that Cumberbatch is capable of that nervous and restrained energy, plus some malevolence, which would mirror Matt Smith's Doctor brilliantly, as Simm did Tennant.

Not sure about him as a Doctor, but bugger me he'd make a brilliant Master!

Interesting that SM has responded that there is no opening and MS is here to stay.

Can I ask where he has made that comment? Not that I'm doubting it...just interested... And was in direct to the rumours of Matt leaving or people speculating due to Benedict?

Your wish

Getting Sherlock Holmes role a 'joy and worry' - Cumberbatch

At the end of the article there is a Moffat quote in answer to the question, Wouldn't Benedict Cumberbatch make an ideal Doctor Who?

"There is no vacancy, Matt Smith is the Doctor and he's been an astonishing success and - who knows - maybe he'll never regenerate again."

How about having Benedict play a future Doctor next year, showing up with River Song? It'd be a nice twist on the usual 'multi-Doctor' story, almost doing it in reverse. Sounds like the sort of thing Moffat would relish getting his teeth into, and his quote doesn't actually discount it as an idea! They could also leave it vague as to which Doctor he's playing, meaning Matt might regenerate into him when he leaves or he's many more incarnations along the line

I for one was bloody relieved to read that.

That would be a very clever idea, and one that would surely appeal to Moff with his fondness for timey-wimey plots.

I do not think so as they are two seperate shows and am not sure how they would blend in together as also the Docotr has already met sherlock holmes in print (Virgin Books New Adventures) already am not sure how it will work.

Also no announcement has been made a bout changing the Doctor anyway and Matt Smith is doing well as the Doctor.

I read comic books. Such concerns of "making sense" are no barriers to a succesfull crossover.

See the conceptual nightmare that is "W.I.L.Dcats/Aliens", which actually turned out to be quite good.

And the less well known "Howard the duck vs. Preacher"

Spoiler
That would actually be quite good.

In a moment of utter madness i rewatched the 'sex' scene from Howard the Duck for the first time in many a year the other day....and by golly it makes me feel as uneasy now as it did when I was 10. what the hell were they thinking!

Apparently, the new canadian horror film "splice" has an equally hilarious/disturbing sex scence.
