Depends....you have to ask your self the question what are the chances of most of us here winning it?

Seriously though...if any person who wins awards feels that particular award is below them....it speaks more about the person.....I mean Hollywood stars even proudly accept the Razzie Awards...and for DT to win an award that celebrates his talent from International fans when the competition is so many accliamed American shows...that is definitely something to be proud of

Oh its impossible not to notice....

I know, the sniping at DT is weird, isn't it?

I wasn't that keen on CE as the Doctor, but if he won an award for it I'd be chuffed for him and his fans, and the programme, of course.

Could you follow it there after your self-congratulatory thread devoted to SM'S receipt of one piece of hate-mail which is Showbiz, not Doctor Who related at all?

I know, that's how I would feel (as I said before David isn't even my favourite doctor - although every doctor is my doctor if that makes sense). I wish people would stop and just enjoy this wonderful programme.

I would never have thought that a thread about a doctor who actor winning an award could be used to make snidey remarks again.

Oh John, don't be inflammatory. It was more than one piece of mail and it was very much related to Doctor Who in the here and now, not the recent and tedious past.

Back again until someone else calls you out and shows you up terribly eh?

Edit: And while we're discussing self congratulatory threads, I think i'll have to go some way to beat this slice of fried gold

One reply and then in with the lock. A raging success!

YES, because every doctor is THE doctor, just showing different aspects of his personality.

I loved DT, but the way he played the Doctor was very annoying at times. I just thought, well, the Doctor has an annoying side, that's how he is.

Yes but that would mean admitting to their hypocrisies....

Exactly! I have to say there isn't one actor where I didn't feel it's the doctor. I might not have liked everything about them, but they were still the doctor. I think they are repeating David's finals tonight, I might get some beer in (real ale) and indulge in the sadness. Although, I don't think the finals were the best send off, I still was sad. Isn't it great that we have Doctor Who on our screens.

Well, I'll be watching it. Which is daft, because I've got the DVD and can watch it anytime but I can't help myself!

It's still strange though. If you really like Doctor Who, you are pleased that there is some recognition for it (even for a previous doctor). Why not talk about David, I want to talk about all the previous doctors, I want them to come back for a multi-doctor story (very unlikely I do know that dead people can't walk - Leela told me in Horror at Fang Rock).

No it's not daft at all. I always do that. It's more of an occassion that way. They are going to repeat series 5 next week, and I'll be watching that as well (although I have it recorded). (on an unrelated note, they are going to repeat the Onedin Line, and I'm going to watch that as well - if it doesn't clash with Doctor Who).

Which channel?

(If you remember that series, you're as old as I am and grass is younger than me!)

I never watch the box. It's either DVDs or downloads (I watched Series 5 via iPlayer) so I'm really out of touch with what's on.

Unfortunatly that is how they roll....they go about making nasty lies and vile remarks about the recent past, and attack fans of that recent past...yet get on a high horse when someone else sends hate mail to who they are big fans of now ....I really would like to know what the difference between the two really is?

I think Leela said some wise words there!!!....But as Babelcolour on YT proves....technology can make anything come back from the dead....

It's on yesterday, here is the link. For all Peter Davison fans, they also repeat "All creatures great and small".

I have the distinct feeling that we are more or less the same age and ancient (I didn't watch the Onedin Line the first time round). I had a serious crush on Peter Gilmore, and I only now realised that he was already 40 years old when he started filiming it

I wouldn't know, I like both eras, and classic Who and I generally avoid making derogatory remarks about the different actors, producers, fans or other posters, so I can't help you there

I love Babelcolour's productions.

I'm pleased I'm not the only nutty person, who still watches all the repeats. I wish they would do a classic Doctor Who week-end on BBC 3 or 4.

I would love that. I don't know why they don't do it, surely there's an audience for it?

I have a painting in my attic - it's of you, though - so that explains my dashing good looks.

I've memories of TOL (as I believe devotees refer to it) being on Sunday nights, maybe? My mum watched it but I really only remember the theme tune.

My God yes!!!!!! What I wouldn't do for that.....I am so glad that they used to put it on UK tv gold when I became interested in checking out Classic Who! I think BBC 4 would be a great place for it....when they aired the Dalek episode in 2008 it got 1 million veiwers!

It's on Freeview (if that was a serious question). It's got a lot of old programmes on (I was hoping they would show Doctor Who as well).

That explains everything.

I watched it second time around, the theme tune was great. I'm sure the series isn't fantastic, but it's nostalgie and it fits into the same 1970's Who set-up.

There is! Maybe we should start a petition (for once I'm serious).

I wish I could get UK tv gold. I know they had a Doctor Who weekend before the New Who started. It would be great to see some really rare stories.

I've seen Watch at my folks - they repeated New Who around tea-time. Richard and Judy were on before it so that was quite upsetting.

The Yesterday channel was called something else, wasn't it?

I'm obviously way behind times as well. I have heard about Watch, I might actually investigate what I have to do to get it.

Oh they often repeat New Who....I think R&J are gone now....so you can watch Watch again with no fear!

Yes Yesterday TV was UK History, I know G.O.L.D was UK Gold, and I think Dave was UK G2....could be wrong though....but whatever the case...none put on Classic Who!

If you can't see any subtle differences between voicing a thoughtful and well argued opinion based on facts about how the previous show runner intorduced some rather jarring changes in tone and flavour to a long running show and a gaggle of weird, socially inept middle aged women writing angry letters of harassment directly to the writer of the show purely so they can whinge because the object of their desperate desires and dreams has voluntarily left...well i sure as hell am not going to waste my time explaining it to you.
