even when your iPhone is locked.

Apple. Everyone always talks about how the multitasking is useless, and how Apple don't allow Skype (well, in the past) as people wouldn't make calls when they could Skype for free etc etc

Well today Skype has been updated:

I'm glad that the network I am with has provided their own client that I can use on my phone with proper multitasking, that also works without being on 3G or WiFi.

Just updated, fantastic news as far as my business is concerned, we use skype across the globe as an easy and affordable means if staying in touch, this makes it even easier.

Good news. Shame that Skype are going to charge for 3G calls though, after this year, given that you're already paying for the data usage (and already paying for the call too, if it's to a real number).

As per link:

In a blog post** on the release, Skype also announced that it has dropped plans to charge for calls made over 3G networks. The company had previously stated that it was planning to institute charges after an introductory period of free calling.

In light of that, we no longer have plans to charge a supplement to make calls over 3G. We’re delighted to make it easier for you to talk for even longer and do even more together using Skype.

Doesnt seem to use too much, however a 30 second 3G call cost me 5% battery
