W595 USB Charging

ive just been handed down a w595 phone (orange) for use as a work phone, and would like to be able to charge it while out and about via USB, however it only seems to charge on a laptop/computer that has the drivers installed, ive tried it on xbox/sky HD box/TV/another PC/USB charging socket and none of them will charge the phone only this laptop with the drivers installed.

is this normal ???

im using the leads that came with the phone originally nothing new or modified (USB lead hasn't been used before just say in the box for the last year or so)

any ideas out there ???

I was never able to charge mine via USB, even on the PC with the SE software loaded on it. In fact, the plug on the charger also has an input socket on it so that you can charge it and connect to a PC at the same time. My USB cable only has about 4 contacts on it whereas the plug on the charger has loads. I always assumed my phone didn't support USB charging.

Dont know if its the same but i needed 2 cables for my Sony P1i one for charging and one for data.
