Music & Nostalgia
What songs that upon hearing them make you instantly reflect and become nostalgic?
Shanice - I Love Your Smile Ace of Base - The Sign Too Unlimited - No Limit Prodigy - The Pressure ??? - Cotton Eye Joe These are amongst some of the songs that as soon as I hear them, I get a giddy nostalgic feeling inside. What are yours? |

Most songs from the past make me think of that time....but ones in particular that REALLY get me nostalgic
Fern Kinney - Together We Are Beautiful Baccara - Yes Sir I Can Boogie Cliff Richard - Wired For Sound Buck's Fizz - If You Can't Stand The Heat ABBA - Name of the Game Bananarama - Robert de Niro's Waiting Freeez - IOU Fat Larry's Band - Zoom Mostly songs that don't get played to death on 80's retro video shows - where they show the usual suspects of Duran Duran, Wham and Madonna |

erm... just about every song i know... from the mid 60's onwards, i always equate tracks to memories/nostalgia from the time they were out...thats why imho its important to keep a flow of new contemporary music going and not get arrested in 'my' era.

Liked that song. Think it was used in a 'united colors of benetton' ad. Also loved 7 ways to love and rhythm is a dancer from around the same time. And Julian's Lennon's Saltwater, the chorus of which was nicked by Robbie Williams for his song Angels.
![]() Are you sure it's the song Angels though? I just listened to Saltwater and can't hear any obvious pinching, was it one of his other songs maybe? |

I have songs which remind me of my childhood. Some tracks I used to tape off the radio, Vienna, Take on Me and Band Aid being ones I can remeber off to of head.
Then I have songs my dad used to listen to that I love to hear, Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, James Taylor, Pat Benetar, The Who, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell to name but a few. I still keep lots of that music now and I love to remember listening to them with my dad. Then I have the i-am-old-enough-to-go-to-the-pub tunes which bring back specific memories like particular boyfriends or nights out. Don't Look Back In Anger- a yummy drummer i used to date, Things can only get better - a boyfriend who used to sing that all the time, I saw the sign - a friend, Boombastic, There's nothing i won't do, Alisha's Attic, East 17 songs remind of my best friend in my teens and lots more, i hear specific songs and they just fly me back to the 90s and the fun i had. Then I have ones of uni, Steps with Tragedy, James Best of CD, the Beatles, Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, Sonique, Build me up Buttercup, oh so many. I have more recent songs like number ones when i had my children, holiday songs and songs my kids love. My whole life could be written in songs actually, a song can bring back immense feelings in me. |

And I thought of another 90's song. The You And Me song by the Wannadies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvFFmLNXmWg |
