Can't be very good for that price - considering pocket calculators cost more

It can and will be done, thats what mass production is all about.

But remember its for India, the Indian market, where the average wage is barely £60 per month, this is meant for the lower/middle classes who cannot afford a proper PC. (the India you see on TV is all PR)

I think it will be great and for the Indian market, its affordable, a good way to introduce technology to the masses.

The early pocket calculators were probably more complicated in their day.
An SOC as tiny as it is now is in fact most of the computer.
The iPad A4 SOC was reckoned to cost as little $5, down from Samsungs prior $15 due to having their own license.

Is it any wonder that the new Macbook Air is reckoned to arrive for Xmas with this in.
While the iPad is too crap to be compared to a computer how will this be worshipped?
But maybe they will just do both. OS4 with ARM and OS/X with Intel.

The iPad is a very basic device so it could easily be sold for under £200 without contract if need be. An over-sized iPod touch is all it really is, so once you've got the touch-screen out the way, the rest is a standard SoC design.

Seems this was announced by 'self promoting' politicians.

If it was a business like Tata you could well believe it.
Yet maybe $60 is possible.
