I know people have made some money selling free 'normal' sims on ebay, looks like they could make a fourtune, if people are still that stupid.

Why pay when you get an 02 iPad sim for free

PC World rely on conning the clueless to stay in business, this is no surprise.

They will be on sale next to the £75 Monster cables.

Actually, it makes sense from PC World's point of view. The SIMs are in short supply, so rather than give them away to all and sundry at no benefit to themselves, they've put an artificially high price on to discourage people from just taking them away. This saves the stock for their customers who buy an iPad from their stores: my guess is that their EPOS system will magically discount them to zero when you make a ipad purchase.

Maybe it's the price of the contract all together? So you pay it all upfront?

There are no 'contracts' as such. They are all daily or monthly pre-pay from all the networks as far as I know. eg for O2 see http://shop.o2.co.uk/ipadtariffs/index.html

If that was the case they'd just not sell them individually in the first place.

It's likely to be an error with the price or the product description.

Then again, after saying that I searched the site and the SIM for 3 is the same price!

The reason I started the thread is I know of someone being charged that amount in a PC World store!

Micro sims are NOT in short supply.

They WERE in short supply when the iPad launched, though I'm sure that stocks have improved. I notice that Currys (essentially the same firm as PC WOrld) are also charging £150. I tried inputting an online order (with no intention of actually buying) an iPad and sim, got as far as the checkout, but no discount was applied. I can only conclude that DSG are basically just trying it on!

I disagree. Because it makes them look desperate and dishonest... so it is further evidence for me to avoid going to PC World.
