Question about iphone wifi
captainnorth
23-07-2010
I have finally decided to get an iphone 4 on vodafone.
its the 32gb model and is £219 for the phone and the contract is 18 months - 40 quid a month, 600 mins, 1gb data and unlimited texts.

I am just confused about the following:

1) What is BT openzone? It say i get 1gb per month of wifi from bt openzone? This seems to be differnent from the 1gb of data (ie 3g) - is it?

2) if i use the phone and connect it to my wi-fi at home (i am on virgin cable) to look on the internet etc will i get charged for this?

3) Does using apps take up data? If it does, will i get charged if u apps by connecting to my wi-fi?

Thanks!!!

The 1gb Allowance only applies to 3g - WiFi is unlimited and doesn't come out of your allowance.

BT OpenZone and The Cloud are Public WiFi. Even if you have a 1gb allowance for this on VF, you're own WiFi at home is obviously unlimited.

Most Apps do not require the internet to work except Internet apps obviously that rely on it to communicate. Such as Facebook, instant messengers, You Tube etc.

1GB is ample in the vast majority of cases anyway.

2) Vodaphone don't charge you for using your own wifi

3) Downloading anything to your phone uses data obviously, what an app uses depends on the app in question. If buying a large app (I've got a couple of games over 200mb) it's usually best to do it at home wifi or via your PC. I'm on a gig a month too, and generally you can forget about limits if you avoid streaming too much stuff on the 3g connection.

edit: oops, wrote mine while before previous reply was posted.
