This has probably already been asked here a zillion times already so, a zillion apologies!

Anyway, anybody know what's the maximum amount you're allowed to withdraw in cash from a normal current account from ATMs?

I'm with HSBC

Ta muchly

You can draw the limit if you have a good JCB and some TNT

Depends on your bank but I believe it's 300 in any 24 hours.

If you go now and get the maximum you can go at 0005 and get the same out again.

According to the HSBC website it's 300, it was difficult to check this. I used google

300? Is that all?

That can't be right, honestly.

I'm sure I'm able to withdraw 600 in a day.

In fact, I know I did a couple of months ago.

I'm also with HSBC and just have normal current and saving accounts and a credit card with them - not Premier accounts.

That's OK but not what HSBCs website says as quoted.

Think its 300.

I have it at 750 but thats because I have a prmier account yada yada.

If you need to draw more in the future, ask your bank to change the daily amount limit.

It depends on the limit that your bank has set you. Mine is around 300 but family members can get 500!

For Barclays and Nationwide it's 300 per day as standard.

I can withdraw a maximum of 300 but would feel quite uneasy walking around with that much cash on me

No, they would have to wait a full 24 hours before withdrawing at the ATM again if the limit is "in any 24 hour period". So if you withdraw just before midnight, you have to wait until the same time the following day.

300 ATM limit is the standard for both bank and current accounts with HSBC. I don't know if it's still the case, but staff used to be able to (5 years ago) increase your ATM limit upon request.

I always thought that the maximum daily withdrawl was set depending on personal circumstances.

If you want to know what your daily limit is then go to a cashpoint and do the whole insert card/pin etc then look at the screen where it says money available to withdraw today (that's not the right wording) if you've not taken any out in the past 24hrs then it will tell you how much you can have.

That info may or may not be displayed depending on:-

a) Who your bank is;

and

b) If it is their ATM or is operated by another bank (when only a basic subset of functionality is provided).

I know with the Halifax and its fairly standard across many banks that the withdraw limit is 300.
You can draw the limit if you have a good JCB and some TNT
Jokes aside, that actually happened to the Santander in Retford once...

I have just changed my bank account and as it happens the conditions booklet is on my desk. It says 300 is the maximum per day.

I remember (and I am going back about 15 years now) when I opened a new bank account they said at the time the limit was 200 per day but I could voluntarily change that between 50-250 if I wished.
