I bought an iphone 3gs brand new 5 weeks ago and it all worked ok for about 2 weeks and since then i cant get a signal inside or outside. I'm on Orange, do you think its Orange, me or the iphone itself?

Presumably you've tried re-seating the SIM, rebooting the phone and all the obvious things?

Yeah i've tried all them.

Have you been with Orange before? If you have, was the signal fine? If not, do you know anyone else who has a phone on Orange? Maybe ask them to come to you and see if their signal drops too.

There maybe a network problem in your area, give Orange a call or go into a store they would be able to help you out.

Or their might be a bar on the phone, where did you purchase it from?

Did it stop working after the software updated? Was it sold as officially unlocked?

Is it a real iPhone?

Have you turned off 3G and seen what happens?

My sister told me she was having problems on Orange, I was a bit scepticle by what she was saying. Sure enough though, as soon as I turned off 3G she got a full signal. Turn 3G back on and back to one or no bars (this is on a 3GS without the latest update).

There must be some issues with the Orange 3G network at the moment.

Turned off 3G, no difference.

What was the sellers reputation like? Was it a brand new iPhone? If so, did it come fully sealed in official Apple stuff? Other than that, I can't be more specific, because I don't own one.

Sounds to me like it's been reported as stolen for an insurance job. A common scam on eBay with mobile phones

Yes, which is one reason why I don't use ebay for electronics.

I have a Iphone 3gs as well and im on Orange and the past few days i have had a rubbish signal as well, at one point i was unable to receive incoming calls or call anyone either.

I have just switched off 3g and restarted the phone and the signal level is back up to full strength, i will wait a bit and see if it lasts.

Edit: Well it is definately the 3g thats causing the problem.

What shall i do?

Are you using an old sim?

It may be a pre 3G sim, just had to set up a load of people at work with new sims when they got their iPhones

Orange should be able to send you a new sim

Well I got this phone in January and it's been working fine with the 3G switched on until a few days ago when the signal strength went a bit dodgy from time to time, today it's been 1 bar or less all day.

I'm pretty certain I got a new sim when I got my IPhone as well.

Hi joey319926

I work for Orange and may be able to help. If you can drop me a mail to customer.services@orange.co.uk, I'll have a look at this for you. So I can pick up your mail quickly, please add 'Andy Orange Response' in the first line.

Please also include the reference ORT1004 and your username from this site, as without them, I will not be able to pick the case up.

Hope this helps

Andy

Have you complained to Ebay? Did you pay with PayPal or a Credit Card?
