Outgoing email & iphone 3Gs so frustrating!!
I hope someone can help
I have a hotmail address coming through to my iphone all works fine I added another email address which is my email from my business website myname@business.co.uk All my emails downloaded to my iphone so was a bit please with myself as I have no grasp of technology generally HOWEVER I gotan email using my business email address on my i-phone and I sent the reply my iphone email says 'message cannot be sent to recieptent.' and it holds it in the outbox Ok I tried to send a new mail to someone 100% know there email is working and it does the same thing. I can send replies on my computer using my business email to these addresses so why not my iphone? The messages have been sitting in my outbox the last few days. My business site is hosted by fasthosts but using their help online FAQ advise to set up on the iphone I cannot even get mail in so I feel I have something rightmy outgoing mail setting is stmp.mybusiness.co.uk and i've tried changing it to fasthosts.co.uk as they suggest still nothing Any ideas anyone??? The prob is only outgoing. |

You need to use an IMAP server not pop/smtp if you want to keep things tidy across more than one device. Fasthosts should provide this no problem. Sending smtp mail from different Internet service providers is fraught with problems due to anti-spam measures.

your outgoing mail needs to be the netowrk server
you dont say the network, but mine on vodafone is send.vodafone.net |

Agree with above - depending which Network you are on you should set your outgoing server accordingly. In my case I use smtp.o2.co.uk some networks need a username and password for the smtp server. This is usually the same as you use to access your billing etc. on your networks website. If you don't know it they can text it to you or give them a call.

I take it that you have put in your username and password for your outgoing SMTP? I have forgot to do this many times when setting up a new phone.
Also if you have a hotmail account coming in what happens if you set the phone to use the hotmail outgoing mail server? |

Is your fasthost account set up as a IMAP account on their server? Also they will have a proper name for their incoming IMAP server you nmeed to look in their help file to see what it is.
I am sure my wife used fasthost and I set up her iPhone with multiple accounts and the fasthost one by just reading their online help. |
