Why does Heart have so many 'local' stations when it's just the same presenter playing the same music on every station? And when will they deliver this 'music variety' they keep promising? I just tuned in to see what's playing and it's Torn by Natalie Imbruglia

Jason Donovan returns to heart

Jason Donovan is to host a brand new ‘All 80s’ show on Heart, the UK’s most popular commercial radio station, starting on Sunday August 3

Every Sunday from 7pm, Jason will celebrate the very best of the 80s with three hours of the decade’s biggest songs, from artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince and Whitney Houston.

Jason returns to Heart after a short sabbatical and will re-join the station’s exciting weekend line-up, which includes Club Classics with Mark Wright, Celebrate Saturday with Emma Bunton, Sunday Breakfast with Jenni Falconer, and Sunday Morning with Stephen Mulhern and Emma Willis.

Jason Donovan said: “It’s great to be back with my Heart family. I’m so looking forward to playing the best of the 80s and perhaps a few tunes we forgot about too!”

Richard Park, director of broadcasting at Global, said: “Heart is packed with the best variety of music and big name presenters. Our new ‘All 80s’ with Jason will be the perfect way to finish the weekend in true Heart style. It’s fantastic to welcome him back with a show packed full of the music that our listeners know and love.”

Now why would you need to approach a jingle factory... oh yes a new station. Will it be a heart sister station. Im more convinced it will be now. Launch/relaunch both stations with a complementary jingle package.

I think between us we can pretty much put together the 40 or so songs that will get played week in, week out from then until eternity!

Just like the Time Tunnel, it'll just be the same predictable stuff lifted straight from the knackered old Heart playlist scripted by a cheesy old soap star <yawn>

Nice too hear different 80's music without the normal stuff we hear in the playlist. Have to sound different. I do like all 80's music.

These should of been on air the day the Real stations rebranded to Heart imo, not 3 months after the launch.

Richard Park is kidding himself if he thinks Heart is packed with the best variety in music. He missed out the word "repetitive" .

No sign of that new national station that Global were going to put onto DAB; I thought that was going to be some retro station?

Funny link on Heart yesterday about 2.40 PM, the jock came on waffled something about a song then said "if your making plans for the weekend, here's something to put in your diary" He then went on to plug Jason Donovan, I could imagine people pulling out their organisers all over the Uk and writing that must not miss event

Heart Scotland is down on listeners to an all time low of 421,000 compared to 488,000 a year ago. However, in South Wales and Yorkshire, the numbers are up 50,000 in three months at both stations no word on how heart north east is performing

Heart network total listening hours are up by 2.7m from 63.6m to 66.2m
