Hello everybody,I'm new on this thread. I just want to ask a question, and if anybody knows the answer,I would love to know:
Why does Heart play the same songs every night?
I work nightshift two nights a week and we listen to Heart from about 11pm to 7am.
Bruno Mars - Locked out of Heaven
John Legend - All Of Me
Ellie Goulding - How Long Will I love You
Blurred Lines,Happy,Passenger,etc.
Sometimes we hear these songs two or even three times. Even the oldies are nearly always the same ones:
Natalie Imbruglia,Starship,Bryan Adams,Coolio,Debarge,Boy Meets Girl,Tainted Love,Take On Me,Fast Car,Don't You Want Me,etc.
Since Heart took over from Real Radio in Scotland,I've hardly heard a Girls Aloud record. I don't think I've ever heard the Saturdays,Atomic Kitten,Howard Jones,Nik Kershaw,Spice Girls,Stereo MCs,The Shamen,KLF, Talking Heads,The Police (except of course,Every Breath You Take). I could go on. I don't think I've even heard a Kylie record. I've never heard a Cheryl Cole record, even her recent No1. Maybe I've just been listening at the wrong time.
Some of the guys on our shift now listen to their own music on headphones,so fed up are they of the constant repetition and limited playlist. And yet it's "More Music Variety."
Yes,they play records from the eighties and nineties as well as current hits, but why does it always have to be the same ones? The Time Tunnel at 2am is sometimes good but even then they often use the same records, like if it's 1988,they'll play Boy Meets Girl, Yazz.or Belinda Carlisle. Why not play a record that we don't normally hear?
You might be wondering why we listen to Heart. Well,it's because where we work,it's the only station we can get with half decent reception.
I would welcome any answers to my questions from anybody.
Thank You
A Frustrated Heart Listener
