Rob and Chrissie are number one at breakfast(and have been for the eleven years they've been together), no mean feat when you consider the competition and marketing budget afforded to R1 and R2 so clearly a long way from being past their best. Matt and Sarah are only about number 5 in their patch. No brainer keeping R & C on. To have given the gig to M & S would be suicide, they barely have a profile in Suffolk never mind any whatsoever in Norfolk.
They might be number one at breakfast but I feel sorry for Suffolk. I was in Norfolk this morning at 8.30am the news reader was reading so fast it was impossible to take in what she was saying, travel was 3 items 2 of which were for Norwich with no mention of trains etc. 3 items of travel for the whole of Norfolk & Suffolk do they never venture out of the studio its ridiculous.
This is just cheap radio with no regards for the listeners.

The news has been read that quickly at whatever time it is for around the last two years. We have had Heart East Anglia on at work this week and I think the Travel news and News is well covered for both counties, infact today in Drive one of the travel bulletins was virtually all Suffolk. There is always mentions of trains if there are any problems. It's always a global bash, there are other stations who are just of guilty of what others think of Global.

The news service is quite cheap sounding....(The male reader is for my ears the worst).... but one expects that from a music station I guess.

Rights and wrongs aside, looking at the East Anglia schedule for the next 7 days, there's 6 presenters who were around in the days before the GWR Mix Network

Gareth John, Rob Chandler, Chrissie Jackson, Chris Maston, Chris Skinner and Jono Woodward

It's cheapish I guess, yet as you say its music all the way with Heart and thats what they do get back to very quickly. ok so it is the very tight playlist that is yet I know I prefer to hear music and a bit of chat rather than Chris Moyles constant talking and a lot of the BBC local's are music free for a certain time at breakfast as well.

Yes, and I think they have all done well to survive this long, sadly we all know that in the next few years that full networking will hit them. What do other's think ?

Basically if Heart East Anglia is anything to go by the station is no longer worth listening to. Trouble is most commercial stations are almost as bad these days.

said it before and I'll say it again. They just want a National station. Why don't we just let them have it - and open up a new tier of LOCAL radio.

Having got bored of the increasingly tiresome Chris Evans and Ken Bruce and the chronic guff they play, I've returned to commercial radio after a very long lay off. Having listened to a mixture of my local radio station (Mix 96) and the Hertfordshire variant of Heart over the last couple of weeks I was surprised that it wasn't all that bad really.

I think someone should report them for the 'more music variety' claims though.

Yes that claim is really funny.

As you say it isnt all that bad ( at times ) and if you listen in short sharp bits then it does what it sais on the tin, like Magic does I guess

Tindle radio here on the coast with The Beach is sounding awful, most of the playlist is the same as Global and the whole sound of the station inbetween ads and music really does sound bad, that's just my view.

Tindle are in a lot of money problems, which is why the stations sound cheap and tacky! Coupled with the fact management haven't a clue...

Atlantic FM in Cornwall is owned by Tindle, isn't it?

Certainly does not sound cheap and tacky. Probably the best sounding station on FM within 250 miles! (I'm talking quality of the audio)

Also I see that in the Heart schedule Gareth John is now listed for 1am-6am, so it looks like they may have binned the overnight Club Classics
Seems that the lazy piece of radio that is Club Classics through the night is indeed continuing.

Thank you Heart website for getting my hopes up

I don't think it's owned by Tindle, but I can't find an owner on their website or on Media UK

Since posting on here (on Monday i think) i have been listening to Town 102 which is an Ipswich station.

I have to admit .... its a bit rubbish, but at least you get LOCAL news and travel.

As rubbish as it sounds, once of the reasons i liked the local Heart was because it mentioned local events. I liked it. I liked to know what fetes are taking place that weekend, which garden is having an open day etc ...... But then, as if by magic, it stopped.

I will stick with Town 102 for a while and give it a proper try out. I noticed they have 'News Kelly' and 'Travel Al' who used to work with Matt & Sarah on Heart before. They left about a year ago, and i wondered where they had gone.

This seems to go back before the recession I wonder if its because they bit off more than they could chew in East Anglia. Not satisfied with The Beach & North Norfolk Radio they went for & got Norwich & Town & ever since all we hear about is money problems. Norwich & NNR sound poor on air NNR by the looks of things only have 2 daytime presenters & apart from Breakfast Norwich isn't lot to shout about. I'll give The Beach a listen online sometime to see how it compares..

Local news & travel though is far better than Heart not that it takes a lot from what I've heard. Pity they couldn't get more money in & invest to make Norwich and Town flagship stations to give Heart a real run for the listeners. Plus a better adult orientated music policy & larger playlist would really help things.

Well anyone noticed a report out today about this report bellow:

viagra prix oldviagra pas cher forumacheter viagra francevente viagra oldprix du viagra chatachat viagra pharmacie miscviagra sur ordonnance graphviagra generique pagesviagra pharmacie wikiviagra paris blogviagra en ligne forumachat viagra en ligne imagesHeart splits for Bedford event
A major news story in Bedford yesterday was enough for Heart Home Counties drive-time presenter Matt Jarvis to offer a separate programme for the town.

Matt recorded split links for Heart's 96.9 transmitter, keeping listeners informed of a major power cut, whilst the rest of the region retained normal programming.

The power cut affected thousands of homes and businesses on Wednesday afternoon - and is historically a time when people turn to their local radio station for information.

A spokesperson for Heart told RadioToday.co.uk: "Following the co location taking place across the Heart network, news services have been extended and enhanced and this is a good example of how a national network delivers locally."

Heart Home Counties was created on July 16th 2010 when Heart Northampton, Heart Bedford, Heart Dunstable and Heart Milton Keynes merged to create one station.

Well when i read about this report, i thought what a fantastic use of a united network and split it. I don't know how they managed to split the 96.9 frequency but sure was a excellent idea. Thats what you call localness.

I think they were doing split links on 96.3 in Bristol last night as there was local travel from Chris Skinner about the horrendous accident on the M4 with the 9 mile jams!

News Kelly, as in Kelly McCormack? She was on with Matt & Sarah up until the final day . Travel Al, rightly so has been with Town 102 for some time now aswell.

Town is good at local news and travel, but their music can sometimes be a bit rubbish. 2 of the things I dislike, is the Chill out thing at 11 and the Easy Mix at 6. Do people really want to hear love songs at 11 & 6 of a weekday?

I've actually got bored of Heart now. It's good that they play a good mix of old and new stuff, but half of the new stuff gets chopped up (to edit out all of the raps etc) and it's always the same old classic stuff that gets repeated day in day out. The only time I listen to Heart now is friday evenings when I do still listen to Club Classics at 7pm. Apart from that, I mostly listen to Smooth Radio when I'm at work in the evenings, I quite like Tammy Gooding on the radio. And the 70s at 7 isn't bad either, even though I wasn't born till 79. The only way I would listen to Heart more was if they was to bring back Club Classics (or even Absolute 80s) every evening at 7pm, preferably with Steve Denyer presenting.

Club classics at 7pm! Every night?
Having to hear this station at work the thought sends a shudder down my spine. Feel sorry for any night shift workers who are not Club Classic fans, and don't even get a presenter.
Heart's problem is that deciding to have such a tight rotation of songs means that for the casual listener it may sound good, but if you hear it eight hours a day it does not work, same artists on a high rotation. Even when Club Classics was five nights a week, a lot of the stuff was being played three times as week, or three times in 15 hours! Not that much variety. Mind you if Club Classics was to play some of the Madchester sounds like James! -laughs- but for Club Classics I think read Disco!!
