Toby suggested back in November it will be back, maybe starting later due to its extended run?

I didn't listen to the 100 top songs of the last 25 years on New Year's Day.

I've looked at the list. I don't think I missed much. It's basically just the Heart playlist. All the usual suspects are there:

Take That,Bruno Mars,Olly Murs,Ellie Goulding,Emelie Sande, and so on,plus of course the holy trinity of Sam Smith,Ed Sheeran and John Legend.

There were a few "outliers" on the list: Wonderwall,Wannabe,Killer by Seal/Adamski.

But not many.

Just the usual playlist that'll be a Global special then. Lol

Wouldn't surprise me if Heart did start calling them Club Classics, but yeah I think they've been scraped.
Roberto mentioned a 'Nineties, Noughties and Now' coming up later.

it's all part of Heart's plan to reduce the playlist further and further to only the songs their target demographic gives a 100% approval rating to,until eventually it's just Happy,All of Me,Rude,Budapest,Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Oh,and Fast Car.

I jest. I hope.

Do you listen to the radio on your telly?

I feel the same as you about Happy, though. Talk about overplayed.

They crossed over to big Ben

The last song of 2014 was Pharrell Williams Happy the first song of 2015 was Party Rock Anthem by Lmfao
We have servers at work that constantly record the output of nearly all the UK's radio and TV stations and I just listened back to what happened on stations across the Heart network.

After "Happy" is played, on every station except London you hear a click (like a fader being closed) followed by silence - after a while some music is played on some of the stations which is different to what is going out on London (who were playing I Gotta Feeling following the midnight countdown) then Party Rock Anthem kicks in on all the stations - so it sounds like there was a networking foul up somewhere along the line!

That's interesting. Why? Do you work for some archive service? is it for legal reasons,in case somebody says something potentially libellous and it has to be checked?

How far back do you go? Weeks? Months? Years?

Just asking. if you are not at liberty to discuss it,or would rather not, fine,no problem.

If it was Beat Again it was probably the backup tape. At least on 96.7 I think.

It was Beat Again on the majority of stations. Some had different music like Essex for example played Feel by Robbie Williams. It was also interesting to see which stations have the output from the emergency tape on their stream and which don't!

I work for a Media Research company. We keep everything just for one month (around 30/31 days) then it's automatically deleted.

There's more music variety in one 6 Music breakfast show than in Heart's entire output.

Sadly, none of this will make it worth listening to...haven't bothered with Heart in MK for ages now..

Katy covered Natalie last year. I thought it was temporary? Can catch Stuart Miles doing Sky News Paper review sometimes at the weekends.

I wonder if the presenters get a telling off if they don't use the magic words "More music variety" a certain number of times during their shift.

And of course there are the jingles, they keep playing; more music variety, more music variety, more music variety, like they're trying to hammer the point home to the audience that Heart is..more music variety. But,of course,it isn't. It doesn't help when they play the jingle right before something like George Ezra,Sam Smith or Ed Sheeran, artists that Heart plays relentlessly.

More Music Variety..no matter how many times they say it,it don't make it so.
