make that the 4th George Michael/Wham song for the day, "the last 10 songs played" shows up "I'm Your Man" played at 16:31! They must be playing George Michael on the hour, every hour!

Heart were in Harlow yesterday for a fireworks display. No-one was really interested in the stand, apart from some old woman with one of those basket wheely things

It was the same in Hemel Hempstead as well.
Heart 96.6 were in The Marlowes Centre and not person seemed to be approaching the stand or getting the car stickers they were giving away. I was surprised - and as I was waiting for someone there was there a while. I suppose there are so many stations and 96.6 changes its title every couple of years that no-one is interested any more. It was the same in Waterstones - a Tottenham footballer was there to sign his autobiography that someone else had written for him - I think he was called Darren Anderton - and a member of staff said it had been embarrassing - no-one bought a copy and they had to staff out with leaflets hastily to try to attract a few people in. My estimation of the intelligence of the Hemel population went up! Paul |

Well they didn't play any of his songs between 1 and 2 as I proved earlier! Also 14:09 or 16:31 is not 'on the hour'

Disappointed that Heart now has utter sh*te that is Club Classics on again between 7pm and 10pm Monday-Thursday, as well as Club Classics through the night from 1am.
For the overnight show they might as well just repeat Simon Dales Club Classics from the night before. Can't imagine there would be a very significant difference in playlist for each show. |

they did the same last year... as it's officially Christmas at Heart now, they do Club Classics in the evenings to prepare you for your Office Christmas Party.

I don't know if anybody has noticed, but they only seem to do certain years! I know 1986 and 1978 come around a lot.
Speaking of 1978 then, would I be right in thinking that some of the following songs are frequently featured?: Chic - Le Freak ABBA - Take A Chance On Me A Taste of Honey - Boogie Oogie Oogie Bee Gees - Night Fever Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - You're The One That I Want Blondie - Denis (a great song but only 1 out of 4 possible singles from 1978 that could be played) Rod Stewart - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy Andrew Gold - Never Let Her Slip Away E.L.O. - Sweet Talkin' Woman |

2. Paul Bryant (a very under-used and very talented presenter) did the fore-runner to Club Classics with "Dancing in the City". Again, this was a monster of a show and did CC and then some.

Don't forget this show has now moved to the Quidem network, complete with Paul Bryant, Saturdays from 6pm.
So that's Paul Bryant's Dancing In The City on Touch FM, Rugby FM and Banbury Sound, Saturdays from 6pm!!!! Meanwhile, back at the ranch.......... Club Classics started out as DIIC and then spawned A Kick Up The Eighties with Tushar. Both shows would have a staple playlist of songs but would have a mass of other songs thrown in on both DIIC and AKUTE. |

Paul has worked in Midlands radio since 1987 (haileng from Radio Lions/Walsall Hospital Radio in the mid-80's before this). He has worked on BRMB/Xtra Am, Midlands radio plc Nightbeat, Buzz FM, Heart FM, Touch FM/Quidem. Paul does Traffic Radio on occasion. |

It is though very similar to the Heart one - and a lot more diverse - significantly more diverse, in fact - than Club Classics. |

It's not started on Banbury Sound yet. That'll happen when it moves to Holly Farm in about a week or so, and takes the other networking.

As you rightly said, DIIC is far more diverse than Club Classics, and CC is the very poor cousin of DIIC, as that's where it all hailed from. Apologies for the Banbury Sound gaff.........I was a week ahead of myself!!! |

So Dancing In The City is up against it's arch-rival Club Classics on Heart? Why? Doesn't make sense to me. ![]() Wouldn't Quidem (what a terrible name, typical Steve Orchard though) be better doing something other than playing disco hits on a Saturday night? |

Friday and Saturday nights are terrible for radio it seems if you don't like, disco/dance music.
Absolutely awful in this area as every commercial FM station is Heart. Now of course with the Christmas party season, six nights a week...Christmas part season? We have only just got past Remembrance Sunday. That and the Christmas songs... |
