1984 is probably the worst culprit so many good songs from this year my favourite 80s year by far but unfortuantely not many different ones picked for time tunnel, normally cyndi lauper girls just want to have fun, micheal Jackson pyt, queen radio gaga, sister sledge I'm so excited, and maybe together in electric dreams.
.
Its actually the Pointer Sisters!

Happy to help

the other sister sledge one.

Yes, because they only ever recorded two songs, didn't they?

This is what listening to this shambles of a station does to you!

If we're talking good Sister Sledge songs then two is really pushing it.

Aren't they the group who recorded 'Frankie'. Enough said.

Thinking of you, All American girls, Easy street, He's the greatest dancer, Mama never told me, We are Family, Lost in music, Got to love somebody and, especially "Reach your peak" are all quality!

And you say you were once a HOM somewhere??

HMMMMMM!!

Thank you, you've just demonstrated the problem with deciding what songs should be played. Everyone has a different opinion on what quality is and based on your post above it's clear that "quality" is highly subjective. I'd say we are family is the only decent one out of the lot but this is my personal opinion. This is why radio stations conduct research.

Yes I was a head of music and if it was totally up to me would I playlist Easy Street? No. Would I test it and ask people if we should play it, yes. If the results came back positive then I would play the songs. That's what it's all about. It has nothing to do with personal choice and taste. If I programmed a radio station based on my taste and what's on my mp3 player it would be so random and varied that only I would like it. I can't' think of too many station that would seque from Frank Sinatra into September, then ACDC.

Not sure with Kodaline, but wasn't one of their earlier songs on the 50 shades soundtrack? The "target audience" will all have seen the film.

Some of the other unusual ones are simply because they are signed by Global Talent.

No not on 50 Shades soundtrack.

I can understand them playing unfamiliar songs if there signed to there label otherwise ?

Perfect illustration of why 'music' radio in this country is so awful for anyone other than brain dead 'Take a Break' readers who think that Iceland sells tasty food.

Iceland does sell tasty food though, if you know how to cook.

For the past two week on the Local heart station I receive in North Wales the past two week every Sunday the opting in to the bt40 goes wrong when there are adverts playing on top of each other which crashes into the start of it.

I wouldn't know about things like that as I only drink quality wine like Echo Falls. No rubbish for me.

Frankie was from 1985. Other songs played in that guess the year include Power of love (both Huey Lewis and the News and Jenifer Rush), Say you say me, Holding back the years and Money's too tight to mention

Yeh fair enough about sister sledge, it was pointer sisters I meant, 😊. Jump that was on.

Kodaline gets played quite a bit sounds coldplayish don't mind it if that's your cup of tea.
