I think it might be Victoria's decision. Commuting to Exeter 5 times a week from West Cornwall would be hard for anyone, especially as she has a young family. Can't blame her for leaving that position.

Maybe, she'll turn up on Pirate?

Nearly killed over when I heard Donna Lewis on heart the other night! How refreshing to hear a different song from the 90s, it's 19 years old! Time flies. Zoe Harman is just a fantastic presenter compared to who she replaced. She has something to say and doesn't repeat herself link after link.

Years and years - king followed by Bon Jovi on the over night show is definitely more music variety.

Hope they play the New Years and years song shine soon. They are definitely introducing new music which capital would play.

Not a good day in Gloucester today, one bulletin started with the standard "From Global's newsroom, I'm a newsreader", then the first line of the first story, then a restart. Not sure if this was jock error, recording error or something else but certainly not the usual slick delivery...

As I first heard her on Atlantic FM in 2009, I hadn't thought about her commuting to Exeter to broadcast. Yes, she would be a welcome addition to Pirate FM!

Love Years and Years was surprised to finally hear them on Heart it's one of the biggest tracks of the year "King" "Shine" is doing very well too as is the album. They are band that have wide appeal being played across stations radio 1 and 2 and most commercials too they would of been stupid to ignore there popularity.

Yes there are some really positive changes recently lots of newer music and the addition of the happy hour with some tracks off the norm heart list.

Funny how though a few months back it wasn't allowed to give feedback as apparently it was what the listener wanted and that was that. Obviously they have done some new research and testing and found the listener is maybe more open minded ☺

Shows how bad the predictable playlist is when the Heart lovers on here can so easily spot additions. Hardly earth shattering entertainment is it. I just can't understand what makes people want to listen day after day to this dross.

Or it could just be that there's a glut of genuinely great, upbeat, summery songs out at the moment and Heart's playlist is reflecting this. But I guess it wouldn't be Digital Spy if the reasons weren't laced with sardonicism.

I don't think my post is sardonic you only quoted part of it and not any of the praise.

This may sound dumb, but does anyone else struggle to tune into heart via the new look app

The amount of cross over FM frequencies' Heart has why would you not just listen on FM on your phone if you are desperate enough to want to tune to Heart?

Heart West Country appears to be playing a lot more older music. This morning we've has Chaka Khan, Ain't nobody and Don Henley, Boys of Summer. I would have thought this was more suited to the London playlist not the former GWR stations. Has the music policy changed?

The playlist is still different but looks closer to Heart London than usual. Perhaps they're now moving towards the older London playlist during local shows.

They have been playing more 80s 90's etc for quite a while on the ex GWR stations but still play some chart stuff not on London.

Someone like SmartProgrammer would confirm but has been very quiet lately.

At some point the format will be changed to mainstream popular music (from chart and contemporary). This will allow them to drop the de facto 67% quota for current/recurrent music, which Ofcom put in place when GWR was yellow carded in 2009.

The ex-GCap stations will then be able to share the London playlist.

There is nothing in the July radio broadcasting update (published today) but they may have been told by Ofcom that they can go ahead without being warned for a format breach.

I'm still around and still monitor various discussions but haven't posted.

Yes, local hours are being brought into line with the rest of the network. The introduction of more 80s and 90s started in February (besides the Time Tunnel).

Will there still be more chart stuff on the ex GWR stations or will that be dropped as people are suggesting?

ex-Gcap stations are definitely going older like London and ex-Real. Tears for Fears, Mary Mary, The Rembrandts, Men at Work, and Cher - Believe since 5pm. The "newest" track (Mary Mary) is 15 years old.

How's about, when the Time Tunnel year is 2003,just for once, not playing the Black Eyed Peas' Where Is The Love?

Or at least,if it has to be played, play it last out of the six records, not the first,as happened on the Saturday overnight shift.

Because it completely takes the fun out of trying to guess the year when you shop the business by playing it first. Surely everybody who listens to Heart knows by now that Where Is The Love means it's 2003. It's on every single time!

The same applies to Wet Wet Wet and that Love Is All Around thing. It seems that gets played every time it's 1994. Confide In Me by Kylie, probably one of her best records, never gets played (it went in at No2 the very last week the Wets were No1 after being there for about fifteen weeks,a major pop injustice).

On the plus side I am glad that Little Mix have made the playlist.

I loved I Swear by All-4-One. 7 weeks at #2 Now that's an injustice. I loved that Summer. Gave up the Time Tunnel as it had become too predictable.

Not necessarily.

The Time Tunnel isn't an appointment to listen for hardcore music junkies. While we may know the year, label, composer, writer, etc etc, the majority of listeners can barely remember song titles and artist names even though they are familiar with the song AND actually love it. The current 'Win Before They Sing' contest proves that as well as internal research.
