I'd hardly call myself a hardcore music junkie (except Girls Aloud
).All I'm saying is whatever year it is,if you play that year's biggest hit early on out the six records it usually gives away what year it is. At least it does to me. Which takes the fun out of trying to guess what year it is,at least in my opinion. Whereas if you play a couple of songs that don't get played so often for that year, it's more tricky to get it.
Usually on the Time Tunnel by the time they've played three songs I can narrow it down to two or three years. But it annoys me when that year's biggest hit gets trotted out first or second song: "Oh,Wet Wet Wet,it's 1994 then."
Same with Cher and Believe. As soon as I hear that I know it's 1998.
I'm not saying don't play them, just not first!
Having said that some of the guesses that get read out are so far out it's laughable,I mean it's 1991 or something and somebody will text in 1998.
That's like God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols being a hit in 1970.
