A very strange mix on Heart today including Bob Marley "Buffalo Soldier", Puff Daddy and Elle King "Ex's and Oh's".

Buffalo Soldier and I'll Be Missing You are fairly standard Heart tracks. Nice to hear they've introduced Elle King though - Radio X have been battering the hell out of it but it's a good fit for Heart too.

Heart extra launches on Monday 29th nationally on DAB between 9am and 7pm it will play non stop music from 7pm to 9am it will broadcast live

Jamie and Emma will broadcast across the UK on breakfast as well as London's heart giving listeners across the UK a choice of regional breakfast shows or London's heart breakfast

Is it still London breakfast or from the 29th Feb does it become national breakfast as it's available across the UK on Heart Xtra? Can't see Heart Xtra having much appeal outside London if its breakfast show is full of London only news, travel and ads.

I assume Heart are aiming for the same thing as Radio X by turning their breakfast show from a local London show to a national one.

But surely shooting themselves in the foot in the process ??
I'm assuming that if everyone tunes into the London feed the local jocks can expect their P45's
Call me a cynic but more cost cutting and a back doors way to a fully NATIONAL station

Local stations still have some big advantages, FM coverage, still many cars without DAB. And on DAB local stations are stereo Xtra will be mono only. Plus of course the local news, weather, travel and ads which will appeal to many.

Ofcom just might as well let them go National, but at the expense of local advertising. This will help local and community stations gain more advertsising revenue and possibly be better of financially! That's my opinion anyway!

Couldn't agree more
Though they wouldn't give the revenue away unless legislation forced them

Thanks.

By more hits does that mean the top 40 songs they dont currently play on heart that chr stations play maybe ?

It would be good to hear more songs from the 80s onwards, heart have a good selection of classic hits but they can be limited.

Heart Extra? Dear God, as if they don't now clog up enough of the nations airwaves already.

So a choice of bloke and bird at breakfast in the regions and another bloke and bird live from London, probably playing the same songs? Oh great. Thanks Richard Park - the man who wrecked Capital Radio years ago and went on to do the same to most other local commercial stations.

The bassman that always makes me laugh it sounds like some novelty dance act from the 90s not a dj on radio in 2016, does anyone know his real name i did try google but nothing came up i bet its something like Dave .

Is someone leaving heart then. Its a shame they cant network the jk and lucy drivetime show. I dont see the point of local drive they can still do local news, travel weather etc thats all you need . They all play the same music now dont they.
