It's not a good mix it's playing the same as heart so no different and completely pointless like smooth extra.

Good mix of music on heart extra so far

Its available nationally on DAB, online http://www.heart.co.uk/extra/on-air/player/ and via the mobile and tablet apps
Only listened this afternoon, enjoying it so far. Whats great is there is a bit of different music like I've heard Bee Gees & Nik Kershaw on Extra, which you don't normally hear on main heart

No, someone better read the numerous previous comments and rulings that it refers to decades and types of music rather than quantity of individual tunes.

The Heart extra isn't carbon copy of Heart's main playlist. I've been listening and there have been tracks you'd not hear on the other playlist. e.g. Elton John 'Sad Songs' Cher 'If I Could Turn Back Time' Pet Shop Boys / Dusty Springfield 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' Diana King 'Shy Guy' The Pasadenas 'Tribute (Right On) etc etc

So, definitely a tweak in that playlist and I think it's a great idea, to have the option of having a non-stop music weekdays from 9am to 7pm

All songs are on playlist of main station. Nothing new.

Why launch a station which plays the same songs as the main? When Steve Penk launched an online station he wasn't going to play music which others repeat and he does it. So I'm sure these extra stations can do the same. It seems pointless

Using Penk as a yardstick is pointless

Not listened yet but wondering if it really is non stop music (or just DJless) rather than being punctuated with news, travel and, worst of all, adverts.

No they aren't.

Give it a listen as you will find there is a difference.

I get the feeling Heart extra is what Heart would be if they didn't have to work to the format restraints of the existing stations they took over a few years ago. To my ears there seem to be a lower proportion of current tracks than on the main station.

Adverts play every 20 to 30 minutes no news, travel or presenters from 9am to 7pm

Diana King "Shy Guy" is a regular play on Heart

Also this hour they've played Aretha Franklin - Who's zooming who, another song rarely featured on main heart

No it wasn't. Chain Reaction is only an active title on Heart Extra.

'What Have I Done To Deserve This' is an appropriate song for Heart 😄

Smart Programmer, so how is Heart Extra different? Is it supposed to have a different skew, or is it just a slightly different selection of tracks? And what is the strategic point of Heart Extra?

I've had extra on a few times this week at work, and it works quite well while grafting, tune after tune without hardly any annoying input apart from some adverts on a lot less than normal heart.

To be fair most songs are ones of the main playlist, but there are a lot more rarer tracks on that would normally only apear in time tunnel or all 80s, so certanly for work anyway not to bad for a hour or so a day.

To use your wording yes it's a slightly different selection of songs with a strong emphasis on the 80s and 90s mixed with the familiarity of the Heart Network.
