Was there adverts crashing the two min silence?
Not quite but nearly did - the news presenter who was anmouncing got cut off as the silence kicked in. If they stopped the adverts she would have announced it properly. Also dont think its appropriate to have adverts just before the silence. They should have scrapped it or pushed them back 10 minutes

Heart messed up the newsreader announcing the 2 minutes silence because they didnt leave enough time after the adverts. Commercial stations should have scrapped the adverts before 11 tbh
Listened back using listen again and it sounded OK to me 🤔

But maybe thse idea is to help promote Heart extra hense why they keep extra in the station name.

But Heart is now aimed at 25+ year olds who it seems sadly prefer known and tested hits rather than unknown chart songs. The chart show is on Heart due to some FM licence requirements so Global don't have to restore it to Heart extra, especially Capital UK is now on D1 which is now Global's home for chart music and where they want listeners who want chart music to turn to.
25+? They are always blasting out Heart when I walk by the old folks home.

25-44 I thought.
Though as a 48 year old, I find the over reliance of the same 80s music a turn off. Also I would like to hear more 90s and 00s.
A shame, surprise many younger than me just want Radio Safe.

Some hope. You want Global stop making money for a whole five minutes, and take their noses out of the trough just to allow listeners to pay their respects to millions who died.

Don't hold your breath on that one.

The ad agencies have clients who want to target working mums in charge of household spending, so to bring in the best ad revenue seems from other posts Heart now test and play the music which goes down best for this target group. Seems they don't mind repetition, but are wary of some chart music.

So now Heart extra xmas has dropped the chart show it may not return and I expect there will be a new, probably automated or voice tracked show when Heart extra returns, and eventually the chart show will be dropped from other Hearts?

I doubt that would happen the chart show is very successful and what would they replace it with on the other hearts, I would rather have the Big top 40 than VT'D shite.

Will see what happens at the end of December when extra returns and if duplication with Capital UK continues?

I very much doubt the Big Top 40 will be dropped. As I mentioned above, Vodafone pay each station individually for taking the show, and as Heart is the biggest commercial station in the country it's likely they pay Global the most based on the audience of Heart and Capital.

From the wiki the show has a total of 2.5 million listeners. Heart extra had a good first Rajar of 664k listeners, but doubt if the listening Sunday PM is more than 100k so the impact of Heart extra dropping the chart show will be minimal and could allow a new show consistant with the rest of Heart Extra's music.

Another reason why some stations might stick the chart on is so it fills airtime at a not so peak time.

He was the last presenter on the station from the pre-Global days.

You'll find most ex-Ocean presenters on The Breeze or Spire FM.
