Not sure, but I'm glad as the 70s / 80s stuff was too boring, too 'samey'. Especially when it was every night after 7pm.
What was the point in Club Classics Overnight anyway, people are not getting ready to go to clubs/parties at that time they are trying to sleep???? |

I swear that on last week's show, the usual 70s disco stuff was not played at all and every song was from the 90s onwards.

Just heard a promo for 'Club Classics'. It's fine if they want to play Cee Lo Green, RIhanna and Lady Gaga, but they will have to take the classics out the name surely...

Incorrect. Last Thursday for example you would have heard Bee Gees 'Staying Alive', Michael Jackson 'Don't stop till you get Enough', Whispers 'Its a love Thing', Baccara 'Yes sir I can Boogie' and that was just the 1am hour.
The Friday evening show is playing more recurrents I think. Sounds more 'daytime' to be honest. |

Is there a reason why they cut end of some songs?

There was a shift in last Friday's show and there were artists like Taio Cruz, Eric Prydz, Ne-Yo, Yolanda Be Cool, Cee-Lo Green, & Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull. While there no 70's songs scheduled, the oldest were Shalamar from 1982, The Weather Girls from 1984 & Nu Shooz from 1986.

That is quite a shift. I enjoy the 90s Old Skool they play - be good if they delved a bit deeper there, I must admit.

And why does the processing on Crawley suddenly sound like it's had the Capital treatment? Although there's bass (unlike Capital) I've had to turn the treble right down. EDIT: Looks like the Capital mix of J-Lo found its way across Leicester Square... |

The music's been so "modern" tonight (kind of like a 90s, 00s & Now format almost) that whacking Chaka Khan - I'm Every Woman on sounds sonically totally out of place.
I'd have personally dropped it totally for the (much better) Whitney version. |

I'm not sure why but it seems that past 12:00, Club Classics seems to flip back to it's original format. The last 10 songs at the moment includes Sister Sledge, KC & The Sunshine Band and Bee Gees, when before 12 it was ll 90s onwards.

Well I did say a few songs would jump out at ya
![]() LOVING the new sound of Club Classics, although I stand by my earlier statement that Chaka's "I'm Every Woman" (the only 70s track - 1978? - I heard) sounded sonically out of place. Something worth pointing out is that Heart's bullseye listener is supposed to be (I think) a 35-year-old woman. Today's 35-year-olds were born in 1976. Looking at our woman's "significant" birthdays, they were 13 in 1989, 16 in 1992, 18 in 1994, 21 in 1997, 25 in 2001 and 30 in 2006. Although there's clearly songs which are timeless across generations (Dirty Dancing's soundtrack is the obvious example) our woman probably won't really have started to take an interest in the charts until she was 10, in 1986. So, really, Heart shouldn't be playing that much stuff from before the mid-80s - and in the next 18 months I would say you will see Heart be the first station to properly pick up the baton of the "90s, 00s and Now" format - a format not really used in UK radio - if at all - but one I think will be a winner if programmed right. How come the processing on Crawley is so top-heavy though? Is Brighton the same? I know Crawley was originally Hit Music but it flipped way before the CHR stations had their processing sh*gged up. 106.2 doesn't sound nearly as "harsh" although my reception of the flagship in Gatwick isn't that great. |

But agree, at some point some stations I think will need to cut down the '80's to appeal to the 35 year old woman. As a 42 year old male, I would welcome a station that was chart ish music from the last 20 years. The only flip against that is aside from some re-entires two years ago, to wipe out the '80's you take out Michael Jackson, like or loathe him still a popular artist (although often one of Hearts the most played artists, seems a liitle excessive). Mind you as they are oft compared, I do notice that Real Radio seems to avoid the 1970's (at a guess 1981- today), so to suggest in a few years Heart would dump the '80's. might be premature when you still hear 70's music. As I am often told Real has lost listeners faster than some Hearts. |

I would like to see Heart adopt the 90s,00s and now format but I can't see that happening unless people started listening to other stations as I see the 1990s onwards as the point when alternatives to Radio started to come in so a teen of the 70s or 80s is more likely to listen to Heart than a teen of the 90s or 00s of the MTV,Refreshed Radio 1 era. That is why a lot of stations are aiming at a large age group even if they don't admit it as there is less of an audience by aiming at a specific age group. Also if Heart changed so would Gold but would 80s fans be happy with AM quality sound (as a large amount don't use DAB) when they have heard those songs on FM for many years.

I could see the music moving towards something more akin to Heat Radio, though.
