They must be doing something right record-breaking listener figures (9.6 million)

Agree is a good move, just curious why Kent and no other local stations (OFCOM requirement) or is it a plan that the 10pm slot becomes regional in more areas

Fault with Winchester Tx. High pitched noise over audio. Sounds like could be possibly STL related as the audio is much quieter so maybe pushing the AGC down.

You'd be surprised. Listening habits don't match those of Digital Spy posters and Madcon Beggin' and The Black Eye Peas I Gotta Feeling still test very well.

So, again - why would you ignore the research?

I guess so, We on here are not normal radio listeners. Im sure my 4 sisters love heart. Also over time our listening habits change I guess, Beggin by Madcon really annoys me so it much stick out so much when its played. Only listen to heart for JK & Lucky rest of time I now find myself listening to Heat alot (all be it the presenters chat so much crap) and also love capital xtra with Jez and then Toni Phillips.

It could be a requirement as its a strange introduction. Whats the competition like in Kent for commercial radio.

That's very odd, so only 1 station opts out of the Network at 10pm, unless this is something to do with deregulation but I'm not to sure though, reminds me of the Gcap days where some stations opt out of the network.

I think that could be a plan, as I said on my previous post, in the GWR/GCAP days some stations opted out of the network to do there own thing.

I must admit I would enjoy heart more if they stopped playing all the cheesy songs like Time of my life and I wanna dance with somebody etc. But I am male and probably not their target audience.

There are many variations across the stations,

ie: Heart London we have Jenni Falconor 4am til 6am then she joins jamie theakston til 7am then Emma Bunton rocks up 7 til 9am then London gets Toby for an extra hour 9am til 1pm

Thats more down to how much Emma Bunton is getting paid. It makes more sense to have her on between 7-9 when more listeners are around.

This change in Kent is a totally new local slot.

That's no different Heart London still local 6-10am like all other stations just with different presenters filling that time.

I wonder if that 10pm opt out on Heart Kent is permanent then? If it is then Global are doing a good job of it.

Can I ask why is it good? What benefit of having Anna Johnson on instead of Kat Shoob?

Because it's a local programme Kat Shoob is very good what you don,t realise it's up to the PC what ever programme the station wants to take, and also I've never heard of Anna Johnson so I think that it is good that Global are doing a local opt out.

Do you think Sharon in Gravesend really sits there and thinks "oh I wish this presenter on heart was in a studio up the road" no. Normal people couldnt give a shit. Having Heart Kent opting out of national output really makes no different to normal listeners in Kent, It brings nothing beneficial to the output. Infact its their lost as Kat is far superior.

Don't get your knickers in a twist hit. You'll likely find this is a less risky way of trying someone out on air without affecting the rest of the network, as the girl herself hasn't even mentioned it on social media, which she'd likely do if it was permanent.

I have no issue with the girl! I like her on ITV2. The issue is this notion that "normal" listeners really care where the presenter is in the country. Clair from Margate really honestly doesn't care. I bet you. Lol

That's a tough one really. There would likely be a few people that presume as its called Heart Kent that the person they are listening to is indeed in Kent, however on the whole I'd agree with you, the average listener wouldn't give a monkeys, as long as they get their fix of Black Eyed Peas and Madcon

I'm guessing its either a slot to try new people in (why Kent and not one of the weekend London slots), a requirement or the only other thought is for lorry drivers at the ferries

I understand your point but it is good that Heart are making an effort also, Capital Scotland has a extra ,local show at weekends, so dose Capital Cymru.
