Is the big top 40 on xmas day the best of 2016 plus xmas number 1?
I believe Christmas Day is the Christmas Chart. And the Chart Of The Year on New Years Day. This is how it worked back in 2011. Although, BT40 is rather pointless on Christmas Day the Official Chart will have been out on Friday the 23rd. We were discussing this in the as Big Top 40 thread; http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...175152&page=13

Have Global changed how they treat departing presenters allowing them to say bye rather than just a tweet saying Oh btw X left today.

Very much depends on the circumstance and who it is, if there moving to a competitor then its highly unlikely they will say goodbye. If they have chosen to leave themselves and are doing something other than radio then they will be more likely to get a goodbye show. Its also more likely to get to do you final show if it's your choice to leave, if your sacked theres always the worry you will do a Danny Baker.

I hope its Victoria Leigh that is the new Cornwall breakfast jock
I'd have liked this too but am aware of the information below

She quit drive time for family reasons so might not be able to stay around all day ish to prerecord links etc
I understand in particular that she lives/lived in Bristol and eventually found it too far to drive each day. Hopefully she will gain another show closer to home, even if just at weekends.

How did she manage to get to St Agnes before Heart?

Assuming you'require on about Victoria pretty certain she lives in Cornwall unless she moved and often tweeted about A30 traffic problems. (Cornwall drive comes from Exeter)

It's available on the Heart app as a LA. Sounds like she started the news bulletin (as it's not live) at the same time as the news intro, followed by the TOH. It sounds like Sian then skips to the next track (the news bed).
When do they record news?
Is that why they say from Global?

Even if same news reader, is it bulletin on Smooth, Radio X, Classic, Capital? Curious about this.. Is their a priority list?

Depends on the area - George Painter (sp) pre records news for Heart Somerset/Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucester and once had to do Heart SW when noone was available as well. This is usually done up to half an hour before.

Sam who does the news for the North East does news for Heart and Capital possibly Smooth too, same as the Wales news team

Radio X just do Radio X I think (certainly Sunta and Dom anyways) but the other news readers might do more than 1 station

I believe they say from Global's newsroom so they can make a name for themselves, like when the BBC start their bulletins on Radio 1/2 etc with 'BBC News'.

The news is pre-recorded as at non-peak times the LBC reader will cover Classic FM, Smooth & Heart. And also, a lot of local newsreaders cover other stations. For example in the afternoon the Solent newsreader also covers Thames Valley.

The official chart is always out 2 days earlier though so it's always pointless in that regard.

A quick Google search would have showed you she is a "model/presenter"

It is good that they are bringing in some new blood. It has started to sound a little stale lately

She did a test run back at beginning of November. She was on Britains next top model. Just another one of them fame hungry people who will work on any job as long as its in the media 🙄 Desperate.

Just remember the word quality should not be used in conjunction with Global, particularly Heart.

Jump the necessary hurdles, most of which are so low now as to be non-existent, and bang on about the number of listeners you've got.

Success at Global is quantity NOT QUALITY.

I think she was a presenter beforehand, looks like she has a background in some London radio stations and got down to the final few in the Kiss's chosen one thing a few years back, before she did some modelling stuff.

She did well at that too.
Good luck to her.

Ok, this is what I FAIL to understand.....

I know this is a forum for the radio "geeks", and i'm probably one of them.........

However, if you are such an enthusiast of radio, why the Fukc would you be remotely bothered about a station that plays 12 songs on a loop?

I notice even the "apologists" have deserted / been told to abandon ship / CBA [delete as applicable}

Jeeeez!
I can probably shed some light on this.

It's a radio station and for some radio geeks (let's face it, we are) that is enough to give us something to be interested in. I see it as the nearest we will get to a national station between r1 and r2 which I have wished for. It may be awful in some people's eyes and amazing in others, but here in Manchester there isn't much else apart from key 103 declining constantly or smooth doing what r2 did up until 15-20 years ago but for the children of the old r2 listeners
