Your suggestion that Heart plays "old tripe" isn't accurate.

Heart West Country, for example, played only four tracks which could be described as gold, between 5pm and 6pm today.

That's four tracks out of 12 in that particular hour.

Two from the 80s, one from the 90s and one from the 00s. That'll be more music variety then.

That's hardly "brainwashing them into liking old tripe" is it?

But in the current Top 10 alone, Heart have only played 3 songs. The Under 25s in areas not covered by Capital won't have heard of the other 7.

Don't those areas you speak of have BBC Radio 1, TinPot FM, MTV Hits, MTV Dance, VH1, Spotify, YouTube etc?

Yes, sadly only listened to/watched by a minority of Under 25s. Most just listen to Heart and I can tell you that Under 25s on the whole prefer cheesy old cr*p to what's in the charts now - this wasn't the case a few years back.

There are always some good songs and some crap songs in the charts. Why would you expect stations such as Heart or Real or Smooth to play everything in the chart? That's not what they're about.

I have to admit some music programmers - Wave 105 hang your head in shame - should be shot for playing the dreadful Soundgirl "Don't Know Why".

They've murdered a Carly Simon classic.

In 2006 a track only needed sales of 13,000 to make the Top 10 singles chart.

http://www.everyhit.com/faqs.html

Are you really asking radio stations to base their playlist around the downloads of just 13,000 people?

Singles sales figures for 2006 fell by 50% from 2002 so they have probably gone down again since 2006. The singles chart is quickly disappearing into irrelevance.

But I didn't say what's in the charts was cr*p, I said the majority of youngsters today are listeing to old cr*p instead of the hits - never before has this been the case.

Joey not like either.

Although it's a good excuse to bring out the Carly Simon original for a spin and shoehorn it in as a club classic!

Yeah, that's a big Magic 105.4 favourite.

And of course "Nobody Does It Better" - just brilliant.

Nobody Does It Better contains the word magic, that's why Magic 105.4 play it a lot.

a couple of years ago these were separate stations now all I can get is blooming Heart. This many Heart stations in one are is this some sort of record?”

How'd you get those stations in Colchester? I went to Guildford some time ago and couldn't even hear Heart London, Capital etc. Only 96.4 Eagle, Classic and the BBC stations.

The way that you hold me
Whenever you hold me
There's some kind of magic inside you
That keeps me from runnin'
But just keep it comin'
How'd you learn to do the things you do?

Along with more than TWO THOUSAND songs that Heart don't play in 30 days... Yep TWO THOUSAND!!! Could be a reason why Reach wise they are blowing global stations out of the water????

Wave 105 has a larger TSA.

Having said that though it's always been a good listen and is programmed very well.

Every radio station is repeatitive, and it works. So what is your point? There are plenty of stations that aim at the under 25 demographic.

What a load of rubbish. You realise that some of the tracks played on heart were played on the ex-one network stations before heart and even before global took over?

You realise that Magic FM / Digital play a large selection of Heart's playlist and they've been doing that (like Heart) for years. I'm 20 and I like Heart in small doses, I loved listening to London's Heart on Sky the other week for the 80s overnight, Jamie & Harriet and a bit of Toby Anstis too.

No one is brainwashing anyone to listen to "old" music (or "old tripe" as you like to call it).

Heart Kent can be picked up in Essex on 103.1 and 102.8 (that being the slightly weaker signal). It sounded good when it was Invicta and part of the Capital FM Network all those years ago. Heart London can be heard in Colchester and most parts of Essex too.
