So would 6AM-1PM be local and 1PM-6AM be network or 1PM-4PM local (inc breakfast)?

Of course, Global could do 'grouped' drive time shows

Can't see why not unless the format specified in the licence specifies network and local at certain times. This could be indirect, the format could mention traffic news at rush hour, but it seems unlikely.

Traffic news on Global stations like all of their local content is very poor and always has been. Its important though as looking at websites on phones is not a viable option when driving, I use BBC via TP all the time as its not trying to cover the whole East Midlands like Global. Drivetime should be local I think.

Gold Derby uses the same travel supplier as Radio Derby though. Usually similar bulletins as well.

Is travel a licence requirement or just local news?

I don't think it is, but I have read somewhere on Ofcom's localness guidelines that travel news can be used to demonstrate the 'localness' of a station.

Global's stations could easily do networked drive-time shows and drop in regional travel news, as was demonstrated when Capital were live at the torch relay concert. The show was networked at drive time, with local news & travel dropped in.

They could do it over time, change to this. Although I guess in some areas some people would still expect to hear something vaguely local at drivetime?

I'd like to see OFCOM require a certain amount of localised links per hour between 4-7 if they net it.

Are any stations dropping in travel due to the weather today?

Trying to make up for last nights cock up clearly.

Pirate FM did well last night.

clearly sensitive for them as need to show so early into taking it on that they will provide local content for cornwall when required....ironically bbc devon and cornwall airing usual pre recorded shows with only half hourly reports...and pirate had top 40 as well....so heart southwest doing rather well tonight

Wouldn't that mean UKRD wouldn't get paid for taking the chart?

Pirate is live.

pirate is live now and doing the best job for cornwall.......heart a good effort for devon and cornwall...would have thought bbc devon and cornwall could have got a special prog on somehow

You should be getting.......

Doesn't always work like that.

I live in the Midlands and I can't get all the Absolute stations but I should!

You wouldn't be able to get all of them anyway, Absolute 70s and 00s are only on DAB in London.

60s and Absolute Classic Rock have limited DAB coverage, while 80s, 90s and the main station have near national coverage on DAB.

None of Absolute's stations are available on DAB in NI and London is the only area where you can receive the whole portfolio.

Sounds like SW has rejoined the network.

Why is Crabwood Farm (96.7) veering off to the right? It's also quiet but the compression level is or at least sounds the same.

I'd say a Welsh breakfast show, with Welsh links, Welsh bulletins, and Welsh music between 6am-10am and 1pm-7pm on weekdays, 9am-7pm Saturday and 12pm-4pm and 7pm-10pm on Sunday is acually quite a lot of Welsh content...

He was never gone... been around covering various shows, most recently early breakfast.
