In the days just before Heart, if I remember rightly, 2ten and 2CR opted out of the network due to snow. Of corse Ocean was local 24hrs then. What would it take snow wise to opt out of the network these days?

Was on the way home from near Horsham, West Sussex back on the 30th in the evening, so a couple of days after your observations above.

Our route back to Somerset took us down to the A27 and ultimately the M27 before coming off at the junction with the A36 for Salisbury.

I also noticed the apparent typo in the RDS PS code while approaching from the Bognor Regis direction. So either by then they still hadn't fixed it or it was suffering a relapse!

I guess if it's a problem at the TX site itself, at that time of year, unless it's a complete loss of service / failure, I doubt anyone would have been in too much of a hurry to sort it out. Which is quite understandable.

Have they fixed that now, then?
PS has been put back to what it was before August-ish which is HEART___.
Traffic still doing it's weird thing which leads me to believe one of two things. Maybe they're testing something new with RDS or their RDS encoder died. When I was in Cornwall in August i noticed Plymouth 97 was also _HEART__.

My office listens to heart Oxford, the music is repetitive, the presenters are over active and I cannot stand the commercials ( I would much prefer Jack FM Oxford!!!

How is it Christmas? The video may look so but doesn't mean the song is.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Power Of Love didn't have any sort of Christmas theme to it when Holly Johnson made it. Only the Video gave it away...

I've heard Steve Wright on Radio 2 play Frankie - Power Of Love on his show during the year.

I heard dido 2 weeks ago on the beach radio so you can't class it as new as such.ers face it all the stations are playing it and playing it too much bit like that Adele overplayed and over hyped I get sick of hearing her and heart play her way too much.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't....how predictable!

And I think you can class it is new - it's 3 weeks ahead of commercial release. How the hell is that not new? Whether another station may have played it a bit earlier is irrelevant. It's not yet out. The public can't buy it. It's new!!!

I think by playing a song 3 weeks ahead of it's released date its safe to say ITS NEW.

Besides, the point I was actually making was the fact heart was playing a song well before its release. Heart isn't normally one for playing a song that hasnt been in the charts for a few months.

Brilliant! Have just scanned through my radio, and located in Northamptonshire, I can receive the following frequencies: (note some do not give perfect reception)

Heart 96.6
Heart 96.9
Heart 97.4
Heart 97.6
Heart 102.6
Heart 102.7
Heart 102.8
Heart 103.0
Heart 103.3
Wow! That's a lot of Heart!!!!
In fact, to compare it to my other most-used station, Capital, I cn receive Capital on:

Capital FM 105.4
Oh wow. What a load of choice!

Therefore you must be in Leicestershire then. You are obviously getting former Chiltern Horizon, Northants, Fox, Hereward, Q103, GWR Bath.

Transmitters at Northampton, Bedford, banbury, Luton, Oxford, Peterborugh, Cambridge, Molton Keynes. Can't remember where 102.8 is for. The Derby station is Capital so it can't be that.

No it hasn't. There are still occasional 80's songs in the evening. George Benson, Pet Shop Boys, A-ha, Eric Carmen, KC And The Sunshine Band, George Michael, Michael Jackson, T'pau, ABC and Tina Turner are just a few that have been in the 7-10pm Network show this week.

The OP is correct though. There were no 80's songs last night. The earliest was 1990 with Snap and Beats International.

That's right, it was. Even so, due to the signal strength in my area, I could still receive it, even though I was out of their "official service area".
Having said that, I wonder how many people in Northamptonshire actually choose to use Capital Leicester, due to the better playlist it has? (Capital FM do play the same stuff, but not all of the old songs that Heart do. I still hear songs that were released in the 2000's - we're in 2013 now!!!!)
