What is the obsession with the Freeview one playing that god awful "Just Give Me A Reason" song by Pink virtually every hour plus that little ****** who won X-Factor last year?
Surely limits should be imposed on how often a song should be played? |

Surely limits should be imposed on how often a song should be played? I remember that other posters have commented on the variety being as low as 8% once, it then climbed to 14%, but it's now plummeted down to 12%? Seems like a bit more "variety" is needed after all..... Oh yes that nice person off X Factor can't sing anyway, how that ever got released as the winner's single I don't know. Why do they continue to play it, it's almost a year old!!! That certainly isn't more music variety, nor is it good music! ![]() Therefore, I no longer listen to Heart anymore. A combination of repetitive old songs plus very dodgy segueways has led me to leave. Only yesterday was I listening to Capital on the way back from University, and it was much better

I've noticed that during the local opt out of the networked hours, the playlist hasn't got any 80's tracks at all? The London Heart 106.2 still play's 80's songs. Anyone know why this is?

I've heard all except London, West Mids and Hampshire (but Dorset is?) are CHR licenced
Heart Cornwall drivetime could though maybe? |

It's due to the format of the radio stations, and the local shows.
London and West Midlands get a slightly older log whereas the locals (the former former One Network stations (under GCap) take a slightly hotter music log with more current songs as per the original licence. Here's an example from Breakfast this morning : Heart Cambridge 26 Sep - 07:05 Justin Timberlake Mirrors 26 Sep - 07:13 Ellie Goulding Burn 26 Sep - 07:20 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith La La La 26 Sep - 07:26 Lady Gaga Bad Romance 26 Sep - 07:35 Avicii Wake Me Up 26 Sep - 07:41 David Guetta feat. Sia Titanium 26 Sep - 07:51 Take That Back For Good 26 Sep - 07:56 Wanted, The Show Me Love (America) 26 Sep - 08:05 Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & P.. Blurred Lines 26 Sep - 08:11 Lawson Juliet 26 Sep - 08:22 Labrinth feat. Emeli Sandé Beneath Your Beautiful 26 Sep - 08:32 Olly Murs Dear Darlin' 26 Sep - 08:38 Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Maybe 26 Sep - 08:47 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Wi.. Exactly what I was saying. Overplaying songs like this means that their music variety is plummeting. Aren't they supposed to play "more music variety" anyway?

Agree and we can add gold too. It just seems global don't like variety as all their stations have terrible repetitive playlists.

It just seems to be songs from 12 months ago + the odd new song if its by a big name e.g Katy Perry. Surely there is a tonne of stuff they can exploit?
Capital is no better...same 40 songs on repeat. I'm more into the new stuff anyway that's why I preferred the local drive/breakfast compared to the national Heart shows. Now it's just Capital for me.

On a sidenote Capital are down on 3%
http://comparemyradio.com/stations/Capital_FM But at least all of their songs are from the past year - not stuff that has already been bored to death. |

The biggest one they seem to kill is "Dont You Worry Child" which is twelve months old. I like fresh stuff but you need a mix of new and old.
I think Global need new management. 1) play new music and a few older hit songs 2) play a few older classics (a la Heart) 3) has very good presenters (some can be boring) 4) always plays as much music as possible whilst still being able to segue songs properly (i.e. in full) Chances are none of that will happen with current Global management

I'm sure Ashley will be delighted to take on board advice about how to program Heart from a bunch of anoraks who aren't in Heart's target audience.

They must get awfully bored though, playing the same music all the time and reading out the same links , not being able to have a personality on air?!

"And coming up we have more music variety from... <insert overplayed song here> on Heart." They're drumming out One Republic a lot recently. And playing it in full

Stephen and Emma aren't live on a Sunday morning, then.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...9356254&type=1 The screen in that image, posted this morning, shows the time as 5:08 and looks to me like the date is Thursday 28th September? How come the Public File only states Friday evenings 7-9pm and Saturday afternoons 5-9pm as pre recorded? http://www.heart.co.uk/london/public-file/london/ |
