Can anyone tell me why heart.co.uk/hampshire AND .co.uk/dorset are still online, when it's now .co.uk/southcoast?

I would have thought, as there are 15 stations instead of 33, they would also cut the number of websites down to 15, too?
/wirral, /wrexham and /walescoast are still online and link to the correct Listen Live stream, so online listeners get the right local adverts (ads are still split).

I presume it's the same reason for /dorset and /hampshire?

Has SImon Dale been axed from Heart already? Throught he was a good presenter.

If so, I feel sorry for him as he has left Kiss (for five years!) only to be axed months later by Heart.

I think that is what has happened. He is no longer listed on the website, however, I am glad they put Matt Wilkinson back on the evening slot as he was more listenable before Simon took over.

I think Heart's playlist has come a really long way since the original re-brand in 2009.

They've finally realised that their target audience DO want to hear a lot of new music (as well as older/more chilled music).

I can't believe 'We Speak No Americano' was played today! I'd have had that down as one of the least likely songs to hear on Heart this time yesterday!

I think its great that they are adding more new music (that doesn't fit their stereotypical bill) to their playlist. Believe it or not, their target audience do like songs other than 'club classics' and those by the likes of Buble etc.

It's great to put on Heart and to now hear the likes Lady Gaga, Kings Of Leon, Plan B, The Black Eyed Peas & Jay Sean etc.
I have to agree with this post. I am surprised at the amount of new releases cropping up on the playlist but one song that drives me insane is "I Gotta Feeling" by the 'Peas.

I can't remember if I've brought this up before on another thread, but I hate the way Heart have edited it, can someone explain to me the logic behind this massively bad editing when stuff like 'Meet Me Halfway' gets played in full (or to my knowledge).

It may not have been his choice to leave Kiss and also he may have chosen to leave Heart. We don't really know do we?

Not sure if it was just that. Matt had Club Classics, which obviously stood out from the previous show.

Now evening are just normal play list.

Such a shame that Global seem to be stuck in rigid format. Used to enjoy the pre Heart heritage stations evening shows. More youthful, and then Friday stood out with club classic/party nights.

Would be nice to hear something different, rather than same old, same old.

Core Control?

Music Control?

Mel and Rob's Hot 30 Countdown?

Funny but I don't recall any of the evenings shows getting high praise from the anti-GWR mob when they were on air.

These forums used to be full of moans about evening networking.

You couldn't make it up - amazing how many people want the Hot 30 Countdown, Late Night Love and the All Night Request Fest back all of a sudden!

You gotta admit, the brilliant Back In The Day at 1.00am with Dan Wood on overnights was good and before that with the Request Fest / Music On Demand.

I was a fan of the evening shows from 7 to Midnight on the GCap / GWR stations, the only thing matching anything of Music Control now is In Demand on Bauer's stations.

As the saying goes you don't know what you got till it's gone i.e. the old GCap shows such as Music Control, Vodaphone Live Hour, etc was better than what's replaced it. Just my opinion there.

I think you've got whatever the opposite of rose-tinted glasses is.

Sure, the hot30 wasn't popular, but I think that was mainly because it was usually the first show to replace local programming and was nothing special.

I remember core control being more popular though, it had good presenters, new features and more importantly (at least for the people on here) pre-recorded local links to make it sound local even though it was networked.

Invicta FM had The Fridge with Stephen Sullivan instead of the Networked evening show until Global took over and then soon after Kevin Hughes show was networked on Invicta which although wasn't as good it was a similar format then after a few weeks the playlist changed to the normal daytime playlist and the links were brief.
The current evening show could be improved on Heart with a similar format to Dean Martin's Gold Requests on Gold where you get a bit of listener input and the odd different song but it still plays enough regular songs to keep most people happy.
I think most of the networked shows are better under Global than Gcap as I didn't like the heavy speech shows like Jeremy Kyle or Late Night Love but some of their shows could do with a few more short links and a few different songs as at the moment they could just scrap the presenter and have a computer playout and it wouldn't sound any different.

The appearance of new music may be more by accident than design.

Weren't Heart warned by OFCOM over the lack of new tracks being played on stations which were orgiinally licensed as CHR?

Having had to update their selection, they may well have found quite a few of them testing well, and stuck with it.

I do agree, network shows are better with Global.

Before you could tell what was local and what wasn't. Even on Hit Music Network, every show still flows into the next one weather it be local handing over to network or visa versa.

Its a bit like Entertainment Edge I mean what was that all about?!?! GCap networked content was a bit of a car crash.

It seems a little bizarre hearing 'We No Speak Americano' on Heart! Fair play to them.

I know this is kind of weird but I enjoy listening to Heart sometimes. I know it's not aimed at me but I understand why it does so well!

I think Chris Skinner is sounding good on the evening show!

I have noticed the amount of new tunes being played such as the new Olly Murs track and the new Alexandra Burke tune! Would like a few more oldies to be honest.

I got this link via facebook.

http://www.heart.co.uk/music/top-pops/

so what are Heart saying? That no one cares about 'rock'?

What is 'rock'? Here are some 2009 chart topping albums. bands who do not get on Heart but maybe 'rock'.

Muse
Arctic Monkeys
Kasbian
Green Day
U2
Bruce Springsteen

They got to number one despite the largest UK commercial network ignoring them.

Basically, it's done to remove all references to drinking, alcohol, "smashing the place up" and other wild behaivour.

It's a terrible edit, but I have heard other stations air the edited version.

I think Banbury Sound had that edit... it sounded awful.

It seems a little bizarre hearing 'We No Speak Americano' on Heart! Fair play to them.
Lincs' "Hits & Memories" network are playing this at the moment too... which surprises me as the output always kept things steered away from "in-yer-face" when I was there.

Nonetheless, it's a cracking tune but I wouldn't say it's right for AC stations - in the evening at a push maybe? In the early days of the Touch brand in the Midlands, CN used to operate a more "CHRish" playlist in the evenings on Touch, Rugby and (the original) Oak. Worked very well.

Core Control with Kam & Sally and Request Fest/Music On Demand were my favourite GWR shows. The evening show just wasn't the same when it became Music Control with Kevin & Sally without Kam.

As for Simon Dale, I very much doubt that he will be back now as he has been away from the evening show for quite a while now. Matt Wilkinson is much better suited to the evening show IMO.

I think Simon has quietly been axed from Heart as on the Schedule Info for "Heart Evenings with Matt Wilkinson" it no longer states "Nick sits in for Simon" at the beginning.

Why didn't they announce it, are they ashamed of hiring him?
