Simon Dale, hasn't left Heart, he's gone back to Oz, due to a Family member who is very ill.

Even if he has gone back to Oz. I know he has left, I've spoken to someone at Global about it.

Does it really matter who presents the network show?? It's the same playlist and links regardless....Heart does what it says on the tin throughout the day...that's why it really doesn't matter who or where the links come from on Heart....

London 1 Heart has sprouted a new secondary component which appears to be a Heart EPG of some kind, no longer shared with others on the mux.

My thoughts are with Simon if this is correct about a family member being ill.

However, if you have been told this by a Global employee, I would be doubting this info.

Global being the same company who had a page on the Southern FM website about Dan Gasser being unwell and not on air temporarily, where get well soon messages could be sent. When I spoke to a Southern FM employee, I was told that he would be back on air at Southern FM (then in the process of changing to Heart), when he is better. Yeah right.....

Heard him a few weeks later doing cover on Juice Brighton and then Mercury FM, and now he has a Drivetime show on Juice!!!! Never heard on Southern FM/Heart ever again.

Why Global have to hide the fact that presenters leave, I dont know. In the case of Dan Gasser, a few people on here guessed that he wouldn't be back on Southern FM/Heart again, and that he had either left by his own choice or wasn't needed by the station any more.

Unfortunately, many listeners probably couldn't care less which DJ is presenting the music selection on Heart, so probably don't really notice if a DJ disappears.

I have actually given Heart Crawley a bit of a listen, because I thought perhaps give it a chance like a rational person. Tuned into the (local from Brighton ) drivetime show where the usual DJ is Chris Brooks, and sometimes Paul Hollins or Stephen Sullivan when he is off. It actually takes a few moments to work out which DJ is on, all sound equally as bland and lacking enthusiasm and personality. Unlike Mercury FM which Heart replaced, where the DJs sounded enthusiastic and actually as though they were enjoying what they were doing until the end.

Core Control?

Music Control?

Mel and Rob's Hot 30 Countdown?

Funny but I don't recall any of the evenings shows getting high praise from the anti-GWR mob when they were on air.

These forums used to be full of moans about evening networking.
GWR and Heart are as bad as each other - and i have worked for both!

Sounds like classic old school Capital paranoia... they'll have the DJ's all scared to book a holiday by now, just in case they don't have a job to come back to. I guess being ill is also a bad idea.

From what I hear, Parky's management style hasn't changed and Tabor seems to take his lead from there.

A friend of mine recently 'escaped' from Global (his description not mine). Apparently there's an absurd amount of drama at board room and operational levels, which will sound all too familiar to anyone who worked for Capital last time around.

I thought all were pretty good shows. Anyone know what Mel is up to these days?

Am I right in thinking that tomorrow is the last day for several local Heart stations before they "merge"?

Devon and Marcher/Buzz (as was) I believe.

East Anglia to follow next week, and that's the lot.

I think the former Marcher/Buzz and along with former Coast have been one for a couple of months.

Awful radio indeed, the best network prog that lot ever produced was Guy Harris on a Friday night. It was brilliant, fun and upbeat, rather than just formatted "read the strapline and go" styled radio.

Did that used to come from 2-Ten FM rather than the Bristol Studio??

I used to enjoy Nicksy (sp) on Friday night, but my memory is poor it may have been Guy.

I used to like Mel & Rob to be honest, I remember Mel in Ibiza one year on a beach pissed as a fart, prob a pre-recorded link but was funny, the interviews with Robbie were excellent

The girl who replaced them Allison (???) Mulrooney (??), what was that all about ?

Wasn't Nicksy on a Saturday evening?

Guy Harris did his Friday Night between 10-1 on the Friday, 1997-1999, there's a little bit about it on his page on Wikipedia

Guy is one of the best commercial voiceovers there is.

We use him all the time.

He can do so many different voices.
