Global on all brands are having a bit of a clear out. Unless you have a solid contract or reputation then your gone without a last show. David Jensen, Pat Sharp and David Prever all went suddenly from Smooth. It's like you have other jobs goodbye. Simon Bates, Carlos and Lynn P must have had solid contracts to stay until the end, unless they have a choice go now or stay?

I know this is Heart thread.
They always have a last show Occy, they just don't always know it at the time!!

One theory. That's bad treating someone like that, but hey are freelancers or contracted?
In the unlikly event oif that being the case and he's signed with a rival then he would probably be taken off air but paid to the end of his contract. That is sometimes what happens.

There will be a clause in the contract that means he can't work for a rival for a certain amount of time. This is standard in most contracts and presenters are usually happy enough to sign it so they must stick to it unless as an act if goodwill the company remove it. I have seen that happen.

This is all general talk as I have no idea what situation Global or Nick are in.

Is this where the phrase "you are only as good as your last show" comes from?

A lot of jobs have "gardening leave" clauses in their contracts, not just media jobs. If you hand in your notice to go off to a rival then you are asked to leave immediately and paid up until the end of your contract or notice period. Its a fairly common practice with many businesses these days.

It is possible Nick is off elsewhere, maybe Magic or the BBC, and he handed his notice in Friday. It is also possible that he didn't want the fanfare of a final show and slipped off quietly.

Really? From a pop singer too a number one DJ. I bet Alan Freeman and Roger Scott are rolling around laughing in the sky.

I've not heard her show yet, is it actually as bland as I think it might be? However, I live in an area where we're about to have Heart inflicted on us, so clearly I'll be finding out for myself soon enough...

Not heard Emma but Kim Wilde and Rick Astley on Magic are excellent radio show presenters. On Bbc radio 2 you have plenty on ex singers who present radio shows now perfectly well. Jools Hollans, Aled Jones, Paul Jones, Janey Lee Grace, Jimmy Young, Jamie Callum for starters.

Heard him on BBC 3CR on Saturday.
Sunday BBC 3CR has Andy Gelder who was at Chiltern/Heart in the 3CR region.

David Jenson on BBC LR soon...

Just had a look. Wonder which one as he's not listed on any profile yet?

You sure that its not just because he used to work at BRMB and he has put BRMB down for work and that Facebook page is now Free. Unless you click on Facebook left job then it still shows you as working there.

Anyone at Global who can put us all out of our speculation?

Maybe he's going full time at his Gastro Pub Restaurant in Shropshire?

I should think he'll enjoy having a break, Nick is certainly not your average DJ, he's got lots and lots going on.

Yes I read that too. However 2 weeks ago he worked at Global, no mention of Free Radio on his Facebook at all. He has clearly updated his Facebook page as Global is now in the past. It could of course be nothing at all - maybe he's off to Gold!

Was doing the competitions on the Heart Web Site and Nick is still mentioned on this page. Though they removed him from everywhere else. Probably an oversight...
