That does it - I'm gotta get an Android phone

I have a very successful business, 2 horses which I ride, a downhill mountain bike and numerous interests and hobbies, one of which is building go-karts from old lawn mower engines which I then sell.

However, I can always find the odd 60 seconds to destroy your "iPhone is without fault" argument.....eg and succinctly put:

Bare Metal Antenna on outside of a phone.

There, chew on that....I'm off to enjoy one of my many hobbies

Great, so we are clear then: Putting a bare metal antenna on the outside of a phone, failing to test software to ensure people are not charged when data roaming is switched off; these are all iPhone 4 problems.

Both of which are fairly major.

One will cause loss of signal, one will cause loss of money.

Im chewing on it and finding it hard to digest mainly because your supposed giant problem isnt actually a giant problem at all, at least not for me. Id have returned it by now if it was - in fact I was going to until I realised that the dropped bars didnt result in loss of calls or connectivity with or without the case. So yeah, no doubt youll dismiss that as fanboyism or whatever you bizarre lot of obsessives have coined for the truth now. It seems that kids like you are only happy when you are blindly spouting utter biased rubbish.

No, sorry but I'm not spouting. I'm stating simple scientific facts.

Bare metal antenna on outside of phone + Human Skin = conductivity.

How that manifests itself is more luck than great design.

The luck being strength of local signal and level of conductivity of your skin and how you hold it, but none of that changes the fact its a seriously shite design and a serious flaw....much like the roaming charges bug

Some people just love to bash products they don't own rather than enjoy the products they do own.

It's extraordinarily weird.

No disrespect - but the only one spouting on here at the moment seems to be you. Insults, however much you think they're warranted are unlikely to dissuade those you're aiming them at. However, to put your mind at rest, you're NOT a fanboy - well, at least not according to the Urban Dictionary.

Apple Fanboy
1. A person who believes in almost anything that Apple says and gives into its marketing strategy.
2. A prime target for Apple marketers to impose their superfluously costing products to.
3. A person who honestly believes that Windows XP or Vista is Archaic, Inferior, Does Not Work, or just plain ripped off ideas from the Mac OS.
4. One who waits in line for days in some instances, for Apple keynote speeches.
5. One who believes adding an "i" prefix to anything is automatically superior to anything that does not have an "i" in front of it.

Most Apple Fanboys will possess three or more of the following:
1. iPod
2. iPhone
3. Macbook
4. iMac
5. Mac Pro
6. 3 or more Apple Connector Cables
7. A membership at Macheist.com

B***er me! It turns out I'm a fanboy. I'm off to throw a connector cable out of the window and rejoin society...

I think its much much weirder to spend ones hard earned on a product with major design flaws and yet enter into a constant dialogue of denial and excuses.

Time to have a look outside in the real world, steve, not just in the DS forums where you and moox are getting all excited with your broad pronouncements. Millions of people out there, all just using their iPhones. Amazing stuff.

While you continue to defend the indefensible and claim it doesn't exist, the number of people who see behind Apple's spin and lies continues to increase.

Unfortunately, the amount of people still parroting Jobs' bull-output over it being an "industry problem" and all this "death grip" business, is still rather high. Apple's PR machine seems to be in top gear. Much easier to deflect than to fix your own product.

When we see tv pictures of people returning their phones to apple stores in the same droves as when they bought them, then there'll be a story. Until then, it's a small issue that affects some people in some signal conditions and has already burnt out the public tolerance for the story. You camping in here telling everyone who disagrees or has actual evidence to the contrary that they are fanboys, is not doing anything any more apart from perhaps raising your blood pressure . I took my iPhone 4 to an x-Ray room in a hospital today. Licked the thumb. Touched "the point". Retained signal. Baffling really. How CAN i get this bastard thing to go wrong?!

It would have been more logical to coat the metal antenna with a clear plastic resin so you'd get the look but without the signal loss problems - a bit like an inbuilt, transparent bumper.

Maybe on the iPhone 5?

Sadly you would have to be online to search and with a bare metal antenna on the phone....

Real world is iPhone with external bare metal antenna = design flaw.

Yeah and also gives a reason to claim the iPhone 5 is the "best iphone yet"

Logic doesnt matter when you have a glass casing and facetime

But yes, I hear the iPhone 5 will include reception and other working phone functions

I LOVE THAT QUOTE. The idea that the iphone 4 could possibly have been inferior to those that preceded honestly never entered my mind. Still, it was nice of Steve to make the point - "This is better than the last one".

Mock all you want dude.

One things for sure, if I had billion dollar facilities for testing antenna's like Apple and then released a device with a bare metal antenna on the outside of the phone, I'd be real bothered I'd missed that oh so obvious flaw.

However your comment doesnt bother me, as

1: I wasnt talking about upgrades to devices in terms of spec, and
2: I was talking about fixing the major flaws that shouldnt have been present in the first place and then presenting them to the Apple slaves as generous intelligent "magical" upgrades in the next device.

Ha

Indeed....which means Apple will have to gear up to ensure another flaw is present which will be fixed (upgraded) in the iPhone 5...

I'm not mocking you, Steve. It's the other Steve - the one who keeps pulling things out of his trousers. It just occurred to me that he said in his presentation "This is beyond doubt one of the most precise, beautiful things we've ever made."

For that kind of money ISFHS...

Unless the tissues are made by Apple...in which case its probably best to assume they wont function like any other tissue ever made, but will look nice even if they dont have any absorbent functionality

iTissue 4 - This changes every sneeze....into a mess
