DHD4000: using old software
gluca

HI, I was just wondering if the 14 days EPG problem could be fixed using the 1.7 software version instead of 2.3. Thank you.

Only if it supports the offcial Freview 7 day EPG which must be highly unlikely - why woudl they have dropped the support in a later version ?

No, it will not. All the older versions used the same EPG source, so all you would end up with would be a less reliable machine still with no EPG.

Hi albertd, I thought that the old software version used the 7 days EPG and you could get the 14 days only upgrading to the 2.3. If I were to swap the software version, will I be able to go back ?

No, both 1.7.7 and the one before (0.0.32?) used only the 4TV EPG.

It could be that the confusion comes from the fact that when the book was written, the 4TV EPG may have been 7 days, but it was the same source and it soon changed to 14.

Edit: Just checked back, and the availability of the 14 day EPG was announced at the release of 1.7.7 in April 2005. However, the source of the EPG had not changed.

Thanks. I guess I'll just wait untill the DSO see if my DHD4000 works: if it doesn't, it's time for a change. For those ones who still think that there might be a possibility to get back the EPG, there is a petition to be signed : http://www.petitiononline.com/4tvepg/petition.html. Thanks again.
