My TV remote is rather 'sluggish'
My remote for my LF7700 TV is perfoming 'sluggish'.
The page up/down buttons require quite few key presses before anything actual happens on the screen. Batteries have also been replaced. The TV is still under warrenty, but LG has discountinued this model, thus assume remotes for this model have also ceased being manufactured. I assume, contacting LG - they will arraage for a replacement remote to be sent out, but what if they do not have any ? Then what happens ? |

I think the first thing to do is find out whether it is the remote or the tv's response to the remote.
Have you tried pointing it at a phone/camera to see if the glow of the emitters are visible? |

Just get a universal one, I have this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/One-All-URC8...0232759&sr=8-2 It's easy to set up, find any code that works with the TV power function and then 'teach it' any buttons that don't work. It 'learns' by you selecting a couple of menus, the device you want to teach it to and then the button to map it to - then all you do is point the old remote at the new one and press the old button Saves SO much hassle. Also have it set to my PC monitor, I have PC audio through the monitor instead of directly out of the soundcard so I needed the volume control from the old remote. |

I know it's not a Universal remote, but my Sky remote will not work with our Philips TV. It will for 5 seconds when I press the code in, but it then stops operating it. |

After inputting the code and trying one of the buttons...if it works you need to press "Select" to store it.

The volume control on my old TV remote is a bit slow too, I've tried replacing the batteries and that didn't work. I have to press it several times to change the volume. Could be that the TV's kinda old though.

Even if they do discontinue the remote, I should think that it is likely that any other remotes for other LG TVs will work perfectly with it. They all share the same or similar codes.
This is the only LG model that has FreeSAT, so the other remotes will not have a FreeSAT button. This remote has a FreeSAT/Non FreeSAT button in addition to DTT/Terrestial button. Contacted LG last week via website, but had no response, so have once again contacted them. |

The TV is under warrenty, so not really bother, as if it turns out to be a fault that LG cannot rectify, then another manufacturer's model will have to be offered ! |

One possibility is that if it uses a membrane type keypad the "buttons" could be dirty.
Of course to clean the thing you need to get into it which is often easier said than done. But if you can work out how to get the two halves of the case apart cleaning is very easy. The rubber membrane that sits under the buttons you press usually just lifts off the circuit board. Using a cotton bud lightly dampened with something like Isopropyl Alcohol or just plain tap water (make sure it is barely damp not dripping wet though) rub over the tracks on the circuit board. Use a dry bud to wipe up any residue. Do the same on the underside of the membrane to clean the little conductive pads that press down onto the tracks. I have cleaned up several keypads of this sort and got some very useful extra life out of them. But as I said the difficult part is getting inside the beast. |

I've had the "sluggish remote" probem in the past, It followed the " Don't you think that the colours not all that" and " I think the telly is on it's way out" problems. I think a new TV is the order of the day.

Gave up on my SAGEM PVR Remote and got a One for All Comfort 5 for £17.99 from Tesco last year.
Excellent. (a few buttons have to be 'learned') As opposed to a Poundshop 5 in one, for £5, which will only turn the TV on and off and that's it. Argos later reduced my One for All to 8.99 a few weeks ago. It seems no longer listed. Maybe amazon do it or elsewhere. Have a hunt thru remotes anyway. http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...chTerms=REMOTE A lot of people swear by Harmonys, but a bit pricey. |

My TV is only 7 months old.
Finally got a response from LG ! "call Customer support" - what's the point of having the option to either call CS, or use website if website responses end up with you having to call CS ? Called CS, and told them everthing that was in the web enquiry. They are now sending out a replacement remote. Hopefully one that is for my "discontinued" LF7700, and not for the other TVs that LG does. My remote have a D/A button, and a FreeSAT button that differs from others that I have seen |

received my replacement remote
although it was wrongly addressed, thus I guess the delay in receiving it. (correspondence in side had the correct address) ! (Not sure how they had the wrong address, I give them my address via the website, on th etelephone, and again via e-mail) Appears to be working a lot better than the original. Have posted original back to LGE for them to have a look at the fault ! |
