The iphone 4 will launch on the 30th July 2010,

The pricing and costs are already listed on the 3 website. However, those existing customers wishing to upgrade to this phone may get a better deal.

Looking at the tariffs it looks to pound the competitors into dust

I mean the only thing that would annoy me is the lack of unlimited texts , however O2's texts are capped at 3,000 (aren't they?). . .I send about that so I doubt I'd touch 5000. Plus the Internet allowance is bigger.

3 network coverage is much better now,

Plus its the best network for internet, since using my 3 sim card in my iphone 3GS, I never have to use Wifi anymore, Orange 3G was such a let down!

O2 and Everything Everywhere(T-Mobile and Orange) have announced that they are putting a stop to unlimited data allowances and are now giving measly amounts of data allowances.

3 is using that as a marketing tactic, as they will be the only network to offer high data allowances for a very long time to come.

And since T-Mobile has merged with the 3 network infrastructure, you will recieve the same level of 3G coverage, so why pay T-Mobile more money?

O2's texts aren't capped.

I think you will be able to weasle out more texts from them or be able to buy an add on for about £2.50 or something

And they are the biggest 3G coverage company in the land? Wonder will this be where they take off.

I'll seriously be considering them if they carry iPhone 5 (as that's when I upgrade).

It's great that all the networks are competing now as opposed to O2 being able to do what they please.

3 has always been the largest 3G network based on network coverage, Orange have been forced to take down there misleading ads on being the largest 3G network as they based it on 'Number of customers' which is totally irrelevent to 3G coverage.

O2's 3G coverage is incredibly low.

Can existing 3 customers get a micro-sim if they already have the handset but don't want to change tariff or number (currently in pay monthly)

I'm definitely going with 3. Best value by far.

I had a call from their Bluewater store today asking if I'd like to come down on Weds to do the credit check and then pick up the phone on Friday - unfortunately I'm working all day on both so can't make it...

Thanks for this...I'll look at this once I get home from work (strict company firewall - but lets me on here ) and also situated in the depths of hell for mobile signals!

I think they do...I'm afraid you'll have to ring their CS or (better) go to one of their stores!

So did 3 charge you any extra for the upgrade? What about changing sims to the micro? Was it easy?

I'm due an upgrade next month, but i dont want them to shaft me out of cash as i've been with 3 for years...i'm hoping for a free upgrade...of course!

Changing to the micro-sim is no real hassle...ring a freephone number and enter your mobile number and it will transfer over within '24 hours' - in reality it took about three hours (I know from a colleague that it was the same waiting time with O2 so assume it is the same with all mobile companies, I think it is because you can only have one operational sim for a phone number at any one time).

With regard to cost, I have paid out a wedge up front so that I could keep to £30 per month - what I have paid out works out less than what the extra monthly charge would be if I wanted a free phone!

Hope that helps!

The best thing to do is to pop in store or call the sales line, if you are an existing customer, I don't think you will experience any problems.
