Ive just installed OS4 on my 3G and my phone is so much quicker. Quite please with it. The only gripe is that when I type on a webpage such as a forum page the text is quite sticky- im usin the keyboard yet the text is a bit slower on screen. ?
How on earth can OS4 be faster? Anyone I know thats installed OS4 on the 3G has found it to be slower, just look at the you tube videos of loading up settings and so forth.

Have managed to get my sis in laws 3G working quite well on 4.0.1 here is what I did

Restore phone in iTunes as a new phone,

set up and sync your data to it

Go to settings-general-home button-spotlight search and untick everything

Go back thru settings pages then press home button

Press and hold home button and power until phone switches off suddenly

Wait about 20 seconds then switch it back on. Takes a few minutes to power up.

Doing this made her phone go from almost unusable to as quick as it was on 3.1.3

As for iPhone 4, well, I'm over the moon with mine

Apple are working on it and initial reports of 4.1 beta 2 say that it fixes the speed the problem.

I will defend unjustified criticism and I do like the iphone a lot, but I don't see how a free bumper is a fix.
The bumper is not a fix it's a fudge, the bumper was initially an accessory but has since become a pretty vital accessory.

Other than a re-design when the next generation iP4 comes out maybe next year I doubt a software update/upgrade will do anything to rectify the antenna problem.

Maybe sometime after the 4.1 update.

I've done all of that before. No luck.

The only Apple-approved solution is to buy the iPhone 4.

Thought I would dig up this thread again.

I yet to this day have not updated my iphone software to 4.0 or any further updates.

Am I still best to leave it be (3G). It still works fine for me?

If it's not broke don't fix it.

Apart from the fact that 4.1 fixes the slowness. But if you're happy then you may as well leave it.
