This is fantastic for her. I hope her second album outsells the first, not many second albums do as well but I think she may be different with the response to the first two singles.

How's that an achievement? so the radio plays her generic songs so many times that people start to think it's good for a few minutes and buy it.

I think she's going to end up the biggest pop star by the end of the year.

If her album is as good as her last one, I am REALLY looking forward for the next few years. If both Katy and Lady Gaga are producing excellent albums, hopefully they'll be pushing each other further than they may otherwise without such strong competition! Such exciting times.

Hopefully it'll have a knock on effect to Beyoncé too, and Britney. Such strong pop records around just now it's great!

I enjoyed California Girls (refuse to copy the silly spelling though!) but I listened to the new song and I found it very forgettable/average.

Love Katy, she deserves all of the success the future brings (coming from a fan from before IKAG was released)

So......... it's not that much of an achievemnet, Kylie Minogue broke the UK radio plays in one weeks Twice in two years with Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Love At First sight, dosen't make the song anymore good or bad than they already are.

That is the only reason she satyedc on top of the billboard chart, she was well in the 3/4 region when she topped the radio play, its just a sick way for america to pick its charts.

Can I state the obvious. The real achievers are the ones who make it on word of mouth - not on airplay. Mr Blobby made number 1 through airplay.
Oh and posing nude on the cover - how witty and original or a bit desperate - you choose.

2 brilliant pop songs and I think her second album will sell very well. Momentum is important in this kind of thing. This record is a mark of the stength and success of her previous singles (particularly California Girls) as much as it is of this one.

The album cover is actualy pretty original because she isn't goin to have any words like her name or the album name on the cover because she wants it be remembered as she feels that next time she releases an album physical CDs may be gone and she wants it to be remembered ok so I no she ain't the first one to do it but I haven't seen a mainstream artist do it in a while

I think if you have to sell an album by posing nude (even although you have more airplay than all the other suckers added together) the songs in the album must be pretty crap.

Congratulations Katy, it makes a nice change for a singer who isn't a screeching diva or part of a lame arsed boy band to break a record.

Carry on with the great work girl.

California Gurls was understandably a big hit, but I totally fail to see anything special about Teenage Dream.

It's getting this airplay because of the success of CG. There's a demand for her new single. That's not the same as this song being endlessly requested for being hugely popular.

These airplay achievements happen every now and then, they don't really mean much. It's the chart that really account for a songs popularity, because it's people buying the song not just the radio overplaying it.

I wouldn't say so. Teenage Dreams, in my opinion, is much better than California Gurls. I absolutely love it!

It is clear that Katy Perry will do anything to get as much attention as possible. I.E. posing naked in a music video AND album cover. I mean come on, not very classy is it?

I agree, the one of the boys album seemed to me like it was just about the music but with this album and her being provacative, she's trying to compete with other females who are in the spotlight more than her.

California Gurls was an average song which was a hit only because it's sung by Katy Perry and because it's about California which apparently means it's a 'summer smash'.

But I love Teenage Dream - it's more fun and catchy, less superficial, and doesn't sound like a lazy re-hash of a recent song. And I think a lot of young people will relate to the meaning of it.
