David Guetta
I was wondering if there is any reason why and how David Guetta manages to get his name on so many tracks when he is just the producer? No shade as I actually like most of the songs he produces but I don't understand why he is often featured or is even the main artist when as far as I am aware he does no singing whatsoever? I mean, Just Dance isn't credited as Lady Gaga ft. Red One so why would it be any different for David Guetta?

just my theory, but i think it's because he's everywhere just now and having a song produced by him is the 'in' thing at the minute.
so possibly by mentioning 'ft. david guetta' it's s almost a way of gaining instant credibility for your song sort of like 'DG produced i gotta feeling so this song's gonna be as good' like i say, this is a complete guess lol

I expect its just something he demands in return for producing a song, as it helps to get his name out there and makes him seem like the 'hot new producer'. Which I guess increases his own album sales and gets him more attention and work offers from other artists.
And seeing as he's such an in-demand producer, the artist probably doesn't have much leeway to negotiate. And it will also benefit them to have his name associated with the track, particularly if they're a new artist or not particularly successful. Its like how RedOne and JR Rotem have producer tags at the start of all their songs. David Guetta's pretty much the same, he just gets his name on the track in a different way. He's basically just building his brand. And particularly in the case of his own albums, for example One Love, if he's the one putting all the effort into creating the song, and just getting someone to write a few lyrics and sing vocals on it, he probably thinks he deserves a credit as a featured artist. Instead of, say, having Estelle or Akon as the only featured artist. |

^ Ah okay yes, thanks for your replies! It does make sense I suppose in terms of getting his name out there

I think it's because he's a DJ first then a Producer.. you don't see the likes of RedOne, Stargate or JR Rotem releasing their own albums or anything.
