I'm an iPhone 4 customer with O2 and as part of my contract, I should have access to unlimited Wi-Fi with The Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots.
I have not been able to successfully connect to any one of these public hotspots for some reason. I was on a similar tariff before I upgraded to iPhone 4 and thought that my number could have been paired with the old iPhone 3G which was fine.
I gave o2 a call and I was advised to text the word WIFI to 2121 to have the device count set to zero. I later received a text confirming that this would happen and in about 1 hours time, I would be able to connect to a public hotspot to register once again.
When I first tried connecting the iPhone 4 to a public hotspot (even before calling o2), I got to the landing page to register my number and then the Wi-Fi disconnected. I've tried several times since and I either select the hotspot and it says it is connected under the Wi-Fi settings menu or it will say it cannot connect but I never seem to get the Wi-Fi icon appearing with public hotspots at least. Not too sure what to do next. My wireless is fine at home and elsewhere. No problems at all.
