my macbook pro is in Apple care for chronic overheating. I have to quit all apps and can't run more than 1 at any time. They tell me it's not a "laptop" and shouldn't be kept on your lap as it may burn you. I just said oh please.
Methinks Apple have a major overheating problem on all portable devices |

They use a passive cooling, which means no noise, but they may suffer with higher temperatures.

Is it one of the new macbook pros or is it an older one? Think I might have to reconsider my decision to buy one

2007 one. But I've heard the problem is ongoing. As with the lousy optical drives. Other than that (!) great machine and not everyone has the problem

I think the Sun is just reporting a 2 year old story as news!
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/12/j...ng-ipod-nanos/ Probably falls back to those incidents like these. http://consumerist.com/2008/08/ipod-...-charging.html Methinks that while it can happen to any product, Apples usual secrecy only creates more questions. http://gizmodo.com/248859/ipod-nano-...-during-charge The quote at Gizmodo effectively says 'mine has never exploded so we have to take this with a pinch of salt'! My Sony NW-HD3 is now about 4 years old now so has the risk of this exploding increased? Is everything with a Lithium battery at risk? |

technically, don't know, but my MBP is on its 2nd one and hopefully they are busy fitting its third. It refuses to accept CDs, just spits em out. Apple care told me it is the most common fault reported to them.
