Best Android Phone?
I have upgraded my phone to the LG Pop but after 2 days I am sending it back to Orange.
The qwerty keyboard is far too small (I don't have massive fingers) and when I am scrolling through contacts, it opens up the one I first touch. ![]() Orange have agreed to let me choose another phone when they receive the LG. So, can anyone suggest the best Android OS phones so I can see which ones Orange are offering on my contract. Thanks in advance.

Can't disagree with this list, and they're about in the right order too - so pick the highest up the list that Orange are offering

![]() Only problem is, I asked for the Desire but they wanted 149 quid on top of my contract. Same with the Galaxy but a bit cheaper. I don't want to have to pay for a bloody phone when they are charging me 35 quid a month. A can't see any of the others on my plan so it's back to the drawing board I suppose. Anyone got the Samsung Wave? |

Your paying £35 a month and they wont let you have the desire for free. Shop around there is much better deals out there.
Thanks

Three are doing the Desire for £35 per month:

Free Phone
2000 minutes (anytime, any network)
5000 texts
1GB internet
5000 Three-to-Three minutes
Or for £32 per month:

Free Phone
500 minutes (anytime, any network)
5000 texts
1GB internet
5000 Three-to-Three minutes
This shows there are better deals around than what Orange are offering! |

Another problem with the Orange Desire (if you get it) is that updates will be slow since Orange has to load it up with their crapware and rip out anything useful to replace with their own paid-for versions.
It would pay dividends if you could somehow get it on another network. |

I would stick to a phone with stock Android rather than anything with sense due to the fact that HTC need to apply the Sense overlay to the new versions of Android then of course if youre locked to a network you then need to wait for them to release the update. Its a slow process.

The two non-N1 top phones both have their own overlays - the Desire and the Galaxy S. It remains to be seen how long HTC is going to take for the Desire. It could even be today. |

That limits you to.. the Nexus One (Vodafone held up the 2.2 update for that, anyway) and some very low end Android phones?

Do Orange do the HTC Wildfire?. I can recommend that, having had one with T-Mobile for a month now.

As a previous Android user, id recommend what I mentioned above. It wont take long for the next flagship phone to appear and then the updates will slow down. Either buy a stock android phone or flash a stock rom.
Having used Sense, I find it much more preferable to "stock" Android. The latter seems a lot less polished and far more basic. But that is personal preference, of course. Updates don't bother me as I use a custom ROM. |

No problem! Sense is like a 'skin' or a 'theme' that HTC have used with Android. Its supposed to make it a bit more user friendly and visually pleasing. Its nice and all, but any official updates are delayed due to the need to make them compatible with Sense.
As it happens the Desire is out of stock on the Orange website but I won't be contacting them until Tuesday so hope it's in stock then and I will try to get them to let me have it on my existing contract. I have seen on other sites that third parties are offering it on the Orange network for free on a £25 contract. |
