Thriller
12-06-2004
Coronation Street favourite, Mike Baldwin, will find himself in the centre of a shocking "whodunnit?" storyline this Autumn when he is stabbed and left for dead outside his flat in Weatherfield.
Baldwin, played by Johnny Briggs, will gather several enemies over the coming months and all of them will be suspects in his attempted murder. It begins when he accidentally runs over and kills Nick Tilsley (Adam Rickett), who runs out onto the cobbles to try and stop his ex-wife Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) from leaving. Nick's younger brother David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) goes off the rails and vows revenge when Mike is released without charge, and the 13 year old subsequently becomes prime suspect in the stabbing.

Other suspects include butcher Fred Elliott (John Savident) who loses yet another lover to rat Baldwin and psycho solictor Maya Sharma (Sasha Behar) who discovers a dodgy deal between factory owner Mike and her ex-lover Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) has left her penniless.

Super bitch Karen McDonald (Suranne Jones) becomes a suspect when she is sacked from Underworld and discovers husband Steve (Simon Gregson) has slept with glamourous Frankie Baldwin (Debra Stephenson). This sparks the beginning of the end for Karen as she flies off the rails after losing her job and husband due to Frankie's meddling, and she promises to exact revenge on the Baldwins in any way possible.

Producers claim the storyline will run for months and the fate of many characters will become apparent as Weatherfield becomes a bloodbath before a shocking climax for Christmas.

Coronation Street has fast become the nations most watched soap, raking in more than 12 million viewers per episode, and that number is set to rise at the show goes from strength to strength this year.

I'm beginning to think Corrie is the desperate one not Eastenders one word who shot Phil!

I never heard anything of this so I don't think it is true.

I hope Maya's the culprit.. that way she can be carted off by the police, thrown in a cell and never again inflict upon the street her pouting and eye-rolling techniques..

Hey, this is a pretty big revelation! and as far as I know, not common knowledge. So, pleasssse if this is from a reliable source, why didn't you hide this spoiler, for those of us who don't want to know about future episodes so far in advance?

Thanks. :

Every soap needs a residential area to be the basic setting for the show. Most soaps are situated in areas like corrie.. doesn't necessarily mean they're copying it's formula, it's just the soap way!

Who got it from?

who shot JFK? who shot RFK? who shot Abe Lincoln? who shot Ghandi (both)? Who shot the russian Tsar/family?

have I missed any others?

Will corrie be doing the same advert as EE, with a usual suspects line up????

My money's on little Chesney, who has been taken over by a demon, like the nasty little puppet in Childs Play! but it'll end up being Ken 'Boring' Barlow who gets done for it!

I remember they did a really effective ad for the run-up to the "Who killed Billy Meehan?" plot on Fair City. They listed all the suspects 'n' stuff.. Although it was pretty obvious who it was because it had been leaked weeks before.

I reckon it'll be down to Joe Carter and Greg Battersby together in a joint effort, after all there must be a club for those who've tried and failed to ruin Underworld by now..

Don't forget the most important of them all - Who Shot Mr Burns.

I think it will turn out to be Bethany's evil twin - but I don't know which that is .

If this is true, then I think it might be Karen Mcdonald, after all she is leaving the show, so it would be a dramatic exit for her.

If this is true...........

I think it'll be suranne who does it. She will stab Mike and then will get flung in Jail.......then she will turn up in Bad Girls!! (sound familiar!)

I dont think it'll be david (not another platt storyline please!!). Although he did show psychopathic tendancies tampering with Martin's brakes!
