this has been linked to by a few fire staff today..
http://t.co/9aevL5zuwv

the talk is it will be like rtl in Italy and 538nl mixing radio and TV in one live feed, with the Bournemouth studios getting refitted for video
Thought Visual radio was now Radio Vis and already used by several UK stations using some Revo, Pure and Roberts colour display sets and some mobile handsets. So nothing new to most radio groups, but good to see a small, but expanding, station like Fire get onboard.

that's a slideshow system, fire are doing full live tv like rtl102.5. don't think anyone else in the uk mixes videos to the radio audio and has multi camera studios. as this is pr announced the guys are being a little more open that usual at fire... apparently the whole place is being rebuilt at the moment

juts had it confirmed it IS full tv like this:
http://www.rtl.it/Radiovisione but with a 'uk look' guess that answers why Fire was kept safe from sale

So will it be on actual satellite TV like RTL 102.5 is, or just a web-based thing?

Having seen the press release, satellite TV *is* mentioned. But there's no timescale, so it might just be in the longer-term plan.

Funny you should say that, it was in my original post but I keep editing them.

It seems Triple Media are investing now so was wondering if it'll happen soon.

Certainly looks from the outside like some major changes and investment. The whole building has been shrouded in scaffolding for a few months. Fire now have a new entrance and reception.

Does anyone know about on air changes?

well the news music, idents and sweepers changed 2 weeks ago with new 2 new voices and straplines. the presenters have also posted lots of comments about refits and finding old fire stuff in storage rooms so something must be up.

Fire Radio are Fire are using Dutch company, Vidigo's Visual Radio - the first time for the product in the UK. It is used by CBS radio, ABC Australia, Radios 1 - 6 Netherlands, SVT Sweden and 538 Netherlands, plus stations in South Africa and Russia. It is the industry leader in combining audio switched cameras (up to 12 per Visual Radio system, social media integration and Flash graphics into a radio stations web stream. It can be manually or automatically controlled. It is capable of HD too. Currently only the BBC has invested so heavily in visualising radio. Radio 1's installation is large but a BBC "home brew" solution. Radio 5 Live and Parliament use an SD based audio switching camera solution - although 5 Live is looking to upgrade their system. Communicorp in Ireland developed their own system that will switch to the presenters face when the microphone is turned on.

Dave Taylor from the breakfast show has announced that he's leaving. Where's he going? It seems the changes aren't just to the exterior and interior of the building. No word from the presenters on the visual side of the changes, or have I missed them talk about it?

NRG original Jay Ratchet has gone as well. I think that leaves DJ Ross E B as the only one left from the beginning.
I hope Dave's talents are put good use somewhere else where he will get will get more listeners, he deserves it!

Yes your right there.
I see that they are advertizing for a new daytime presenter, so I would assume one of the present djs will be taking over the morning show.

Looks like Fire are coming to TV - they've applied and got a freeview license (being discussed here). Not sure if this is broadcast freeview or IP, but still a major move...

So I'm guessing tomorrow is Dave's last day. Would like to hear that, I'll see if I can record it somehow...

Fantastic final show from Dave Taylor this morning. Really entertaining. They've had some terrific breakfast shows and presenters over the years. Very big boots for Alan Lake to fit. Wondering whether the TV thing will go live with the new breakfast show?

Small compared to what he is used to, just has to be careful what he says this time.

Yes, he'll just have to hope nobody asks him for advice on quitting smoking...
