Brilliant Bev
Having just watched Friday's Corrie, I just want to say how brilliant Susie Blake is as Bev. She has made a difficult character realistic and moving. It such a pity she is leaving. The struggle she conveyed as she realised she had to tell Shelley was superb.

I really do hate Bev, and can't wait to see her gone. I totally agree with you that Susie Blake's a great actress though, it's just a shame she plays a character with no purpose other than to throw herself at younger men whenever the opportunity arises. Maybe if she had another side to her personality then I would be able to bring myself to regret her departure..

I'm not too sure what I thought of as Bev as a character in the Street. She was an embarrasment to have as a mother for sure. If something stood still for long enough she hit on it and I think she thought she was Gods gift to the male population of Weatherfield. I don't think she will be missed at all.

Bev was always going to be a 'short-term' character; only bought in initially for the break up of Shelley and Peter. I remember reading that she was supposed to be coming back though.....

It was a shame that Bev developed into such an unlikeable character in the end, the endless throwing herself at men etc. Susie Blake is a good actress and I live in hope, if/when she returns, that the character might be developed a bit better and made more sympathetic (rather than pathetic as she is at the moment.

Bev was wasted as a character. As already stated Suzie Blake is a good actress and would have been a good edition to Corries "comedy" line up but alas ended up being a hated character. Im glad shes gone but as Sally Lyndsy (Shelly) said a few weeks ago she may be back!

I hope she'll be back and that she gets more to do. They should have expanded the friendship with Fred. His goodbye to her was really moving last night.
And I so dislike Charlie, even more so after last night! If Susie does come back I guess it won't be for months as I read she is starring in a theatre tour in the autumn. |

Ok.. this is really pushing it as far as keeping on topic goes but..
Have you seen Evanescence's "Going Under" video? At the very start when Amy Lee is having her make-up done one of the blondes is the IMAGE of Bev! Honestly, the hair.. everything! Well.. apart from the demonic eyes that is.. I'll link a screencap if I can find one. |

When I heard a few months ago that Bev was leaving, I thought that the actress was getting the boot, but apparently she wanted a break? Sounds promising for a return; but when she does, I hope they've mellowed her a bit. It'd be funny (but far too corny) if she came back with a bloke, that Shelley ended up sleeping with!

I originally thought that she was leaving when she had that really bad night running the bar and wanted out - but that was like 2 months ago (at least)

Well, I've just watched Monday's repeat on ITV2 and all I can say is wow. I did watch it on Monday but was quite tired and uninterested, but having watched it now - I'm so sorry to see Suzie Blake go. I really hope she will be back, but definately needs to be less of a floozie.
The delivery of some of her lines during the episode was amazing. The way some things were said needed no facial expression or anything, the words just flowed out of her mouth will all the despair and anguish that the character was feeling. I can't say anything more, it was just brilliant. Such a shame that it was on at Stupid O'Clock on Monday, it was a brilliant episode. I feel tonight's Corrie ratings are going to take a full on bashing, being up against Big Brother "Return from the Bedsit" - I don't know why ITV/Granada didn't just stick Coronation Street on in place of Emmerdale, or given the residents of Weatherfield a week off. |

Bev must be the only unattached middle aged woman in that part of Weatherfield that Fred has not proposed to.

The character had real potential; but the "ageing slapper" role behind the bar in Corrie has proved a bit of a bugger to get right in Corrie in recent years (anyone remember Eve?) And with Liz MacDonald coming back - who's tried and tested in every sense of the term - I guess there really was no room for Bev.
But Bev will be back in the future; the actress and the producer have both confirmed it. |

It demonstrates a real contempt for the Coronation Street audience; they want us to maintain their audience share for the rest of the year; but for now they couldn't give a toss about us. |

Instead, they've just let football bulldoze everything else out of the way.

I will still be watching Corrie tonight, as I always will...but now your points about wanting us to maintain audience shares have really got me thinking...thanks ITV and Granada! |

I was sorry to see Suzie Blake go as well because she is a very good and well trained actress but i do think her charater needs a break for a bit because personally recently i have not liked the direction Bev has been going and she has turned from a loving mother to a desperate old woman! I am sure she will be back either short term or long term.

I don't think her character was developed as well as it could have been and if she stayed in the long term she wouldn't have been a good character, I think a bit more humour would have worked as she is a great comic actress.
Hopefully she will be back again after a break. |

F= BeV
where B is the magnetic flux density, e is the charge of an electron (1.6x10E-19C) and V is the velocity of the electron. and F is the force on the electron in the field. sorry, i just had to get that off my chest!
