I was always a dog-centric person until I got my cat. A decade later and I am totally and completely under the paw in a way that I wouldn't be with a dog.
Dogs have a hierarchy with their human at the top of the chain, and you can rationalise with a dog (to a point).
A cat has an independent streak that I've grown to admire.

My dogs Bailey and Tilly. I can't look at them without having to go over take their face in my hands and kiss their lovely little faces all over. They must think I am mad.

Slight correction- it's only cats they care about. But they REALLY care about cats a lot.
For me it's dogs. They're the exact opposite of everything (well, lots of things, at any rate) that I think's wrong with humanity.
