Occurred to me watching their new video that they could literally be ANY girls from ANY town on ANY Friday night singing a bit of Karaoke.

Let's face it they don't need to be able to sing with modern technology, they don't write the lyrics and they don't write the music.

I have nothing against them at all, to the contrary - nice to see a bit of Frankie and Una on tv but the adulation and praise about their "talent" has to come into question. They are just lucky girls who were in the right place at the right time imo.

Maybe its the Daily Mail who are paying them as they seem to be in their showbiz pages every single day for some reason.."Una buys a cup of Coffee" or "Mollie wears some leggings"

Yeh i know what you mean but at least with The Sugababes and Girls Aloud they have some sort of image/brand................The Saturdays are just........well..........boring? More bland than brand.

Agreed, until recently Sugababes have always had an alternative/underground image (especially in the early years) whilst Girls Aloud has always been camp pop. The Saturdays don't really have any kind of stamp, they're just 'there' being a poor mans Girls Aloud until they return to the scene.

Even with Girls Aloud (and now Sugababes) being manufactured, they still have a unique identity that differs them from other girl bands. There have been loads of girl bands in the past that have tried out and failed, The Saturdays are just one of those bands that got lucky.

There is something very amateurish about them.

As the OP says, it could be any five pretty girls picked out from a crowd to do a bit of karaoke. It's not easy to put a name to a face when you see a picture of them.

They are not unique enough to have established an identity of their own.

They certainly have talent.

Most of The Saturdays can sing well apart from maybe 1 or 2 and those 2 are the most popular with the fans in my opinion, the problem with The Saturdays is that they have the potential to be more successful than they currently are but wrong decisions keep being made and there is such transparency in some decisions they do make like pushing Frankie out and touting her as the next Cheryl (though I do understand why) some of the things they take part in look desperate. They won't get dropped as they are bringing in the endorsements but like any other music act they have a shelf life and that is going to start dwindling if their album sales don't start improving.

Some of the songs on their albums are cracking and you can't fault the vocals, very impressive. I do agree they are being managed badly and do have an amateurish air to them, which is a shame.

They are annoyingly everywhere. They need to take a break. It seems that Vanessa is a good singer, though.

Frankie as the new Cheryl Cole...I think I could handle that. She's a lot more tolerable than her soon-to-be predecessor.

I saw them at T4 on the beach a couple of years ago. It was an affront to my ears - none of them were in tune, I've never seen such a shambles in all my life - diabolical.

Oh but of course I must be JEALOUS or JELLUS. Nope, I just have good hearing. Lovely looking girls though.

I think vocally the weakest are mollie and frankie, though I saw the saturdays recently and was very pleasantly surprised with their vocals.

I agree. Missing You, Ego and Issues are great songs. Something is lacking deffo but I don't know that it's just a case of bad management. The girls as a whole seem very bland and lack any charisma. Rochelle has a litle verve but that's about it.

What Adulation and praise? Im a saturdays fan but even i have to admit, most people see them as an untalented bunch!

Untalented and insincere, but what's new there when it comes to girl 'bands' who are aiming at teenagers and their pocket money.

Well I'm guessing you're either too young to realise how Girls Aloud were picked or you've forgot that the public chose five girls from any town on any saturday night and put them in a band together.

Fact is, bands like Saturdays, Atomic Kitten, Girls Aloud... They're all designed to steal perfectly fine barcode scanners from Lidls all across the country.

The Saturdays music is inoffensive pop...nothing special, but it does what it says on the tin.

I don't rate them as a band, though. They seem like nice girls but I don't get a sense of personality from any of them, so I never really notice them most of the time because they just seem to be "there". There just isn't anything about them as a group that makes them noteworthy and I'm quite surprised they've lasted so long.

They seem to be in the tabloids more than anything else and they don't seem to be that interesting. I know the Spice Girls couldn't sing but at least they had some attitude.

They can sing pretty well, but so can ALOT of people? You have to have that extra something that makes you a star - none of them have it.

ONLY ONE GIRL IN THE BAND CAN SING LIVE.The rest of them do not reach my radar, as I don't think they can dance very well, to make it in the pop world you have to be a triple threat ie. write own songs, sings impeccably and dance really well. Look at Destiny's Child. The closes we have to a British Destiny's Child is X factors Miss Frank ( but I'm hearing rumors that one of the girls has left the band).

I've seen them live and I would say that all of the girls can sing.

I've seen them live a couple of times and I wasn't impressed, their harmonies were pitchy, and believe you me I was willing them to do well, but there was no star quality. I was very disappointed.

I thought the girls could've had better choreography, they were a little stiff. I think it would've been better to be given JLS's Choreographer. Rochelle has the potential to be an excellent dancer.

imo they will never have the critical aclaim like Girls Aloud have had with songs such as 'Biology' and 'Call The Shots' and they wipe the floor hands down with anything The Saturdays have released.
