EXACTLY.
I can't understand the logic of spending several hundred pounds on what is hyped up as "the latest tech device", from the big fruit "apple", yet you feel the need to buy a keyboard.
Thanks for the replies I bought a small apple Bluetooth keyboard for £35 so I am really pleased. I have a laptop but because of my disability I can't take it everywhere I need to but I can manage the iPad and keyboard when I need it.

I can't see how that could work?
Surely a small portable laptop would be so much easier?

but in the end, its your choice.”
I find that I can browse the internet, watch videos view pics etc.. comfortably with an iPad on the lap sitting on the couch as the multi-touch interface is ideal and very intuative for one handed operation. As its got no physical keyboard its obviously more portable as well.
Laptop is really only comfortable for me on a desk with a proper mouse attached.
The keyboard on the iPad works perfectly well, I can type quite quickly on mine, and would not dream of getting an external one for it, I have my lappie for that kind of thing
I can cuddle down on the sofa with the iPad and type away on forums, my lappie is nore formal and on the table, so depending on what mood I am in, both has it's place.

I agree. Never ever found any need to connect an external keyboard. It rather ruins the concept of a tablet IMHO.
