Well it now looks like the speculation has started for 2011.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...#ixzz0vPGtYyI8

Matt Cutler is obviously the most eye catching one. I think it will be great if he does this. Hope he does really well to show the BBC how popular he is & how stupid they were to sideline him. Am sure there will be some who will moan about his dancing being an advantage but that's not necessarily the case - see Jeremy Sheffield.

Jonathan Wilkes has also done some musicals so I would imagine he has had dance training too. He also has a good level of fitness - I know him most from the Soccer Aid matches (as well as Being Robbie's mate) & he's a good footballer.

I don't see how you can compare Jeremy, someone who hadnt danced Ballet in ages, and Matthew who has spent the last 20 years of his life as a dancer, who is now professional and has been for some time. It's not exactly a fair fight is it?

I dont have anything against Matthew, but to put him on Dancing on Ice as a contestant is just unfair against other amateurs.

But my point is that just because he can dance well it doesn't necessarily mean he will be able to skate well. I think to do well with the audience vote he will need to demonstrate he can skate well as being good at the dance/performance side.

But the skills required overlap immensely whether you look at balance, coordination, artistic impression or musicality. Even if he's an average skater to start with he has less to work on.

I don't actually mind being given some high ability performers if they have 2 or 3 of them and some other people are good enough to close the gap. The problem is if the obviously most capable people don't make the final, there's too few of them to give a competition or the public make the competition a nonsense by getting rid of them . Not sure the public would be up for a split cast of no hopers to go whilst a competitive group moved on to the final but the alternative wouldn't make much sense.

He does open the doors to the less professional but dance trained people though and there's quite a few of those been suggested in the past (Eg Tina Barret) who might be very good - there's also quite a few people who did well on SCD who may be physically better suited for DOI.

The problem with Jeremy wasn't that he hadn't danced in years but that he never got over his fear of the ice and his fear of injury. He was extremely tentative and his skating didn't develop.

As for Matt, I have no problem with him being a contestant on DOI provided they have other contestants who can challenge him. If they cast another Ray Quinn or Hayley Tamaddon or two, then it should be ok and wonderful to watch.

I don't mind Matthew being a contestant, but he will have a very unfair advantage in that he's used to picking up females into hold so all he really has to learn the skating part.

Without being cynical. Jonathan Wilkes. Ex ITV presenter, and if Dancing on Ice follows true to form next year one of the male contestants should win it, keeping the female/male sequence going, let alone the ITV link.

Ive heard from someone who knows her, Samia Smith (Maria from Coronation street) has agreed to take part.

Its quite brave of Matthew to go from being the teacher to being the pupil.....they could also sign of Lilia as a pro skater, if they could find someone small enough to partner her!

Pairs skaters are supposed to be hugely different in size, so she could skate with any bloke to be fair. Mel's only 5ft!

All the girl skaters I met, Alex, Mel, Frankie and Kristina are all 5.3 or smaller.

Ok im a lil bit late with this but I would love for Matt Cutler to be a contestant on DOI Dont think it would be that unfair on the other contestants. Yes he is a professional dancer but he isn't a skater so its quite different. He'll still have to learn the basics of skating before he can apply his dancing ability to it. And it may be pretty hard for him because as has already been mentioned he'd be going from being a teacher to being a pupil, thats not always an easy thing to do and could be very frustrating for him if he didnt pick it up easily.

Any ideas on who he'd be partnered with? Who would be a good/ bad partner for him?

Even better, they could make Lilia a judge instead of Emma Bunton!

That'd be awesome!

Better still bring in Katarina Witt for Karen Barber and Clare Buckfield for Emma Bunton or Kyran Braken, and replace Jason with Arlene Phillips.

I'd love that! If only it could happen...

I like Karen, wouldn't want her to go. As for Arlene Phillips? God no, I'd rather keep foul mouthed Jason than have her whining on week after week!

If they must use a former contestant, personally I'd like it to be Bonnie Langford who has a wealth of expertise as a dancer but in reality, I don't think they should go the former contestant route for a judge - look how much having Alesha judge Strictly has polarised audiences. I know Kyran was ok as a judge on the last DOI tour but he was seeing the same performances every show. I'm not sure he has sufficient performance or skating knowledge to comment on several new performances every week.

I also think they should cut the judges down to three so they'll all have a chance to comment after every performance.

I doubt they'll choose anyone as a judge who's not based in the UK because of the expense of bringing them back and forth every week.

I used to like Jason but the last couple of years he's come across as completely fed up and uninterested, as though it's a tedious chore for him, so perhaps it's time he bow out and let someone who actually wants to be there take over. Nicky's erratic and with Karen there's the problem of her dual coach/judge role - she should do one or the other because she gets too involved to judge impartially, judging on things that have happened to the contestants during the week instead of judging what happens on the night.

Keep Robin, put Lilia on the panel and who for the third judge? Perhaps Anita Harris? There wouldn't be a "nasty" judge with those three but Lilia would definitely say what she thinks and she has such a strong personality she could more than compensate for there not being a nasty judge on the panel.

For judges I want Jason to stay as he is actually v. funny sometimes even though he can go a bit far i.e. comments to Sharron. I'd like Karen to stay as she marks them close to what I would most of the time except she never gives 1 or 1.5 and she's good for bickering with Nicky and Jason. Emma could go and be replaced by a skating judge or previous DOI winner. Nicky could maybe go and be replaced by a skating judge who doesn't mark quite bizarely at times e.g. for Gary, Bobby Davro getting high marks and then the girls that don't do as much skating e.g. Hayley and Danniella got marked down.

I would like Robin to go. I quite liked him before the last series but he has favourites. He always marked Mikey low lie for example according to wiki whenever all the other judges gave Mikey 4.5 Robin gave 3.5, then Hayley in the same night got all 4.5's but Robin gave 5 a lot higher than Mikey who was at the same level and gave Emily who got 1.5's and 2's from the other judges a 3. He also eliminated Mikey when Danniella should have went and I say that as a Danniella fan. He favoured Hayley and always marked her high like the 5's and 5,5's and a 6 one week Nicky said last year Robin told them the highest mark they could give Then that skate off with Gary or Danniella because he loved Gary that fall doesn't count so other judges don't count it then predictably he saved Gary. Then marked down Kieron the next week so Gary would get a higher score than them. Hope he doesn't come back.

Anyways rant over about Robin.

Evidence that Kerry is being considered for DOI

Cant we get some decent people please producers??

Please dont inflict these people on the much loved pros, its not fair on them, give them people we want to see.

I can't stand her, but she will do anything she can to get the public attention that she craves, if she does take part it will be interesting to see whether Jason keeps his promise and quits!

The producers of DOI don't seem to be interested in anything that the viewing Audience wants Tracey, thats why we get 2nd rate "celebs" who are trying to reserect their flagging careers or retired sports people who need a job year after year, and they allow nasty people like Jason Gardner to make personal remarks without silencing him!

I am quite surprised by the lack of involvment that Jayne and Chris seem to have in the production of the show, if they weren't in it I doubt that it would have lasted more than one season!

No doubt if that's true they'll stick her with Andrei (assuming he can be assed with it again).

Bad news guys apparantly it IS true and she has actually signed up for it, hope my source was on a wind up BUT he doesnt normally lie to me, didnt actually think he'd know anything but as I also know where that pic was taken and said source was around at the time then it looks very likely that she's doing it.

I still only thought there were in the audition stages, they don't normally start this early do they.

If its true, they might have just killed the show for sure

One celebrity who you don't like is hardly going to "kill the show" are they? I'm sure people said the same thing about Heather Mills last year.

IMO they are, they have shitty celebs (celebs being a very loose word for some of the people on there).

What exactly is KK famous for (oh yeh - selling her soul, kids and life to the press and taking drugs).

As much as Heather was disliked she was famous before Paul M for doing charity work. I knew of her donkey years ago. She was a bit of a gobby cow then too but was still doing the charity stuff.

They should try and get a better caliber of celebs IMO, but its the same with strictly. Maybe all the better celebs can't be bothered with shows like that so we end up watching the dregs.

Before you say don't watch, I watch because I love ice skating.

<----- FIN (will not comment again about this again as its a speculation thread).
